RETIREMENT . (Continued from page 1) of service at the time of retirement, notifying the superintendent of the desire to participate in the plan in writing by January 15 of the retirement year and making final written application to the Illinois Teachers Retirement System within six months of the last day of teaching for which retirement contributions were required. In other business, the board: -Awarded contracts to low bidding vendors of bread, milk, ice cream, custodial supplies and physical education supplies and athletic towels. -Approved a contract to Citywide Carpet Co., McHenry, for carpeting for the building trades house totaling $1,599.19 -Approved a request for bus transportation to the junior- senior prom at the Arlington Heights Hilton, April 27. -Approved an early graduation request for Kelly McNeely to graduate in six sememsters after meeting all requirements for graduation. -Approved separations, reassingnments and em­ ployment of classified staff. Also, after executive session, the board reconvened'to deny a class action grievance of'the teachers' association. John M. Kretler Mosquito-eating martins return John M. Kretler, 72, 1912 Willow Rd., Twin Lakes, Wis., formerly of Chicago, died Tuesday morning, April 23,1985, in Burlington Memorial Hospital, following a long illness. He was born March 28, 1913, in Chicago, the son of the ' late Joseph and Agnes (Schomer) Kretler. Mr. Kretler married the former Margaret Ohap Nov. 19, 1938, in Chicago, where they lived until moving to Twin Lakes in 1965. He was employed by Crane Co., Chicago, for 34 years, retiring in 1965; was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Twin Lakes; Ushers of tyre Church; Twin Lakes Council 6554 of the Knights of Columbus of Mother Seton Assembly ; 4th degree K of C; and a senior aide at the Kenosha Achievement Center. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond # (Paula) Strossner of McHenry, Mrs. William (Rose Mary) Gahlbeck of Johnsburg and Mrs. Douglas (Kathryn) Peterson of Paddock Lake, Wis.; three sons, Adrian of Twin Lakes, Wayne (Terri) Terrell of Texas and Tony of Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Adeline Gabryel of Chicago. lie was preceded in death by a daughter Denise. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Johns church, Twin Lakes- and in­ terment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Haase Funeral Chapel, Twin Lakes, from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday. The Knights of Columbus and parish rosary will be recited at 7:30. The family requests no flowers.
