With much reluctance., the board of trustees accepted the resignation of Roland Hughes. . This resignation left a vacancy in the health and welfare department, so it was unanimously decided to appoint* Wayne Berry as trustee in that department. - . Dawn Miller 385-4901 President Yates also made some new appointments. John Morris is now the building and zoning trustee. He is the person to contact if you need a building permit. John (Jack) asks that you have a sketch when ap­ plying for a permit and that you contact him no later than 7 p.m. in the evening or no later than noon on Saturdays. His number is 34&L738. , A1 Kopczyk is now the roafd trustee, Joan Beck is finance, Dee Valentine is police trustee and Lois Parenti is still in charge of the beach and park, along with -hall rental. It was reported that work is being done around the village with no building permits, building alterations, new at ditions, septic and well digging, roofing whic£ replaces boards and many miore alterations do require a permit.! If the work is done without securing a permit first, the fee js doubled. So play it Safe, and contact Jack to acquire your permit. OFFICE HOURS * Today is May 1, so my office hours will now be on Wed­ nesdays, from 2 through 6:30 p.m. New vehicle stickers were to be purchased and displayed by April 1. If you have received a ticket, you have only yourself to blame. This might also be a good time to renew your boat sticker. The fee is only $1. There are no boat posts left. Birthday wishes for this week go to Virginia Aalto, celebrating May 1; Chris Lawson shares May 3 with Sena^Groh; Frank Kurth blows out 86 candles May 5; % and Louise Berquist celebrates May 7. Many happy returns of the day to all. ANNIVERSARIES Belated anniversary wishes are sent to Clarence and Marion Wohlert, who shared 42 years of marriage April 25 and to Dickie and Jacqie who shared five years of happiness April 26. Anniversary, wishes for this week are sent to George and Pat Mayer, toasting in another year of bliss May 2; and to Wayne and Linda Berry, celebrating their special day May 6. We wisli all our couples many more years of happiness together. COMMUNITY CALENDAR May 1-Beach Gals meeting at 7:30p.m. at the beach house. All ladies of the village are invited to attend. RUNNING DOGS As you know, I have written on this subject many times and yet, complaints still come in. Dogs are to remain on their own\ property. If not, the dog must be * leashed while walking down the \ village streets. Dogs are not to[ be running at large, but if see any, 338-7040. call Animal Contrc Wonder Lake: All seniors are invited The Wonder L.ake fc Citizens Club is now in the midst of a membership drive, hoping to seek new members who are interested in joining them or to encourage former members to again join the group. They meet the first and third Monday of each month at Christ The King hall, beginning at 1 p.m. Anne Sowers 653-9549 As a courtesy to members* blood pressure screening takes place on the third Monday at 11:30 a.m/ before the meeting. Many fun trips are being planned for the summer months, including a stage play, race track visit, and a three-day trip, with one of the days being on the Mississippi River. May 6 will be the next meeting of the club and all senior citizens are cordially invited to attend. HANDI-HELPERS The Greenwood Handi- Helpers 4-H Club held its annual People To People dinner in March. The special guest speaker for the evening was April Iverson, a foreign ex­ change student from Norway who is currently attending Woodstock High School. • Members are now planning a club tour and a community service project. Youth between the ages of eight and 18 are welcome to join the 4-H club. Lynn Sobczak is the leader and she would be happy to hear from prospective members. EXCHANGE STUDENTS The student council members of Northwood Junior High and Olson Junior High will be ex­ periencing a look at each other's schools this coming month. On May 6, the Olson Student Council will spend the entire school day at Northwood, attending classes and sharing the atmosphere of Northwodd. Then, on May 15, it will be the Northwood students' chance to attend Olson. The members of the student council are looking forward to this new experience of being an exchange student, even if it is only across town! f SPECIAL DAYS Happy anniversary today, May 1 to Chuck and Theresa Jinga.
