Bring a flower to Mom Birthright of McHenry will be holding its annual Mother's Day Flower Sale May 11 and 12, after all services at the following area churches: St. Mary, St. Patrick, St. John the Baptist, Villa Desirata an Alliance in McHenry; St. Peter in Spring Grove, Resurrection in Wood- , stock, Christ the King in Wonder Lake, Fox Valley Free Evangelical in Crystal Lake and St. Joseph in Richmond. Pink and red carnations will be sold. All proceeds go directly to Birthright, which is a local chapter of the international, inter-denominational, non profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing free and confidential assistance to women when pregnancy could be a problem. It has been ser ving the McHenry County area since 1977; is a service-oriented agency, and not politically active. It is not affiliated with the "Right to Life" group. It exists to help any pregnant woman, married 'or single, who is anxious about her situation and- or concerned about the well- being and live birth of her child. Birthright is staffed by drained volunteers; offers free pregnancy testing, loans of maternity and infant clothing anq equipment; medical, legal and1 social service referrals, and most important, provides the pregnant woman with friendship and support when she needs it most. The guiding principle is "It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth, and the right of every child to be born." Current needs include cribs, maternity and baby clothes; and volunteers to staff the office, help with fund raising and other activities. Birthright will be holding its second annual recycling drive Saturday, June 1. Everyone is urged to start saving newspapers and aluminum cans. More details will be given at a later date. Birthright, Inc. has recently itnroduced a toll-free hotline number, 1-800-848-LOVE (5683) 24 hours per day. It is manned by trained personnel. If one is unable to reach a volunteer at the local Birthright office and needs to speak with someone right away, she should call the new 800 number to get the help needed. For more information about Birthright, becoming a volun teer, or to make a donation, call the office at 385-2999 to talk to a volunteer or leave a message on the answering machine. 5 YR.
