M A \ 8.1«J85 Sports SPORTS LOG Marian weightlifting set WOODSTOCK -- Marian Central Catholic High Schcol will host a weightlifting clinic on two Saturday mornings in M ay. On May 11, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., Chicago Bear Ted Albrecht will run the event. Albrecht, an offensive lineman for the defending NFC Central Division champs, will work with junior high and high school age students in the use of weights and setting up a weight program suitable for age and personal weight. On May 18, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Clyde Emerich, a 14- time Central AAU weightlifting champion, five-time U.S. cham pion, Olympic team member, world record-setter, Pan American champion and member of the Weightlifting Hall of Fame, will work with junior high and high school age students as well. Emerich is with the Bears as well, setting up programs for physical conditioning, training and rehabilitation. ' ' • Camp seeks swimmers VOLO -- The Camp Duncan Dolphin swim team is actively seek ing individuals who are interested in competitive swimming. The Dolphins' season is during the fall and winter months, however the Camp Duncan YMCA is offering a summer com petitive swim class, which will enable swimmers to learn what competitive swimming is all about. Fishing clinics planned For the past several years, members of the Elliott Donnelly Chapter of Trout Unlimited have worked closely with the McHenry County Conservation District to develop a trout fishery in the Piscasaw Creek at Beck's Woods near Chemung. In addition to habitat improvement efforts and stocking of trout, members have conducted several fishing clinics on the site. A five-part fishing clinic will be presented at Beck's Woods on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. Each of the five parts will address a different interest in fishing. MASF elections approach Bike-a-thon offered The Annual McHenry Area Soccer Federation General Membership Meeting will be held May 16 at Hilltop School, from 7:30p.m. to8:30p.m. All officers for the 1985-86 year will be elected at this meeting. Also, amendments to by-laws will be voted on as well. Voting will be done between 7:30 p.m. and8:30p.m. only. The MASF urges participation from all interested parties. Gun dog seminars set A Gun Dog Seminar will be held at Gypsy Glen Farms Hunt Club on Darrell Road in McHenry. The five Sunday sessions will take place June 2 to June 30. Biathlon in CL CRYSTAL LAKE -- The Lakers Running Club will hol<3 its Midwestern Biathlon Championship Sunday, May 19, at 10 a.m., at Crystal Lake South. The 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) road run will be followed by a 30 WAUKEGAN -- The Northern Illinois Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is doing something to break the drinking- drug problem among youths. It is providing youth programs, one of which is coming soon. The Northern Illinois Council's Fourth Annual Bike-A-Thon will be held June 2, and you can be a sponsor or a biker. All proceeds are earmarked for youth programs. S5-mile ride will go through rural areas and towns west and Rfuth of Waukegan, while a 20-mile trek will take place northeast )f Bridge House. Baseball tryouts set PALATINE -- The Major League Scouting Bureau, represen ting 26 major league baseball clubs, will hold a tryout camp on Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, at McKinley Park, 2210 W.
