LADIES OF THE LAKE The Lily Lake Ladies League did not need a hostess for its last meeting, as they began/the evening's festivities with dinner at a local inn. Then, on to the Sossong home for bunco playing. Jean Dember won first prize. There was a tie for second between Ann Sossong and Julie Kraus, with Ann beating out her competition. She also made off with the special prize. Sophie Patterson was low lady, and as such won the booby award. CERTIFICATE AWARDED The Willing Workers are a group of dedicated ladies who donate untold hours of hand work to provide those less fortunate with warmth and comfort. Myldred Rowe is one of the ladies who meet at the McHenry Public Library every Friday morning to make items 'for the veterans, for the children in Head Start, for FJSH, and any other caring groups. Myldred received a certificate from Ila Hogen of the V.F.W., in recognition of her knitting ability in making slippers, scarves, mittens, lap robes and other items needed by others. A ^plaque was presented to the group as a whole, which is on display at the McHenry Library. Knowing of the many hours that Myldred spends in sharing her handiwork with the end result of warmth and comfort for so many others (including my feet!), we too, give recognition to this dear lady, one of Lakemoor's long tiifie residents. For several years,/Alice and her three sons lived in the apart­ ment behind the McHenry Nunda Library when it was housed on Columbus Drive and Lily Lake Road. She was a friend, sharing her meals and time during some of the longer hours spent at the library. Her thoughtfulness is not forgotten. It was a happy time to visit with her--even though she is still smoking! HEALTH REGAINED It has been many long months of illness, pain, hospitalizations, and surgeries for Richard Hyatt, former president of Lakemoor. Even his doctors were concerned that he would ever be able to return to a healthy life. But as a result of determination, medical care, will power and prayer, Dick has finally received his doctor's release to return to his job in June! This is the exciting news that was relayed by a friend of Dick's, Julia Kraus, who has known-him since he was . in his teens. Dick has been working in his yard and redecorating his home, gaining strength with ^each activity. Though he had to resign the pressures and responsibilities of the office of the president of Lakemoor, he is now well on the way to a time of fulfillment and peace.
