Andrews, bishop of the Free Methodist Church, will lead the dedication of Carefree Village in Wood­ stock on Tuesday, May 14. Clifford Redding, executive director of Woodstock Christian Care, and Bishop Andrews, will be joined by Woodstock civic and community leaders to dedicate the retirement living facility. The $4 million structure has 85 units and is part of the Wood­ stock Christian Care complex, which includes Sunset Manor Two spring walks slated through conservation sites The public is invited to join in a number of upcoming activities at McHenry County Con­ servation District sites to learn some natural history as well as interpret the sights and sounds of spring. Two walks are scheduled for Saturday^ May 11. The first will begin at 9 a.m. at the Marengo Ridge Conservation Site. Volunteer Fran Almquist will lead the walk and focus on spring woodland wildflowers in bloom. The second walk on May 11 will be at the Hollows Con­ servation Site (between Crystal Lake and Cary on Rt. 14). It will begin at 7:30 p.m. and focus on the mating flight and display of the male woodcock. No pre-registration is required for the programs. Doug McGrew, administrator of Sunset Manor, will be master of ceremonies for the noon program. Lowell Kline, chairman of the board, will welcome guests. Local dignitaries will par­ ticipate in the ceremony. Nancy Palberg, Carefree Village ad­ ministrator, and Howard Engstrom, Carefree Village director of marketing, will read the dedicatory liturgy. Two Carefree Village residents- Walter Torgeson and Kristine Batty-will represent those who live in the new facility during the ceremony. Johnsburg house fire A McHenry firefighter adjusts the mask to his airpack as white smoke billows out the front door of a house that caught fire late Wednesday morning near Johnsburg. Companies 2 and 1 of the i&hi McHenry TownShip Fire Department were called to the blaze that was reported at about 11:30 a.m. May 8. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
