If during those first frantic hours chairs happen to be placed ten feet apart, so be it. One can always shout. Then there are other people who move their furniture constantly, always seeking the ultimate arrangement. Excessive furniture moving can be a signal that one's life is in need ol a change. Also it's easy and requires only careful measuring and a few basic tools: Vi inch graph paper, templates (furniture cut outs), a metal measuring tape and a pencil. First measure your room's dimensions and chart them on paper; one foot of space equals V* inch of graph paper. Measure and mark architectural features such as built-ins, fireplaces, doors, windows, closets and jogs in walls. Next, measure the wall on each side of each architectural feature. Also mark in areas where there are electrical outlets, chandeliers, radiators and heating ducts. This helps you to properly place reading lights and table lamps. When all is clearly marked on the paper, you are ready for the templates. You can do it the easy way and buy templates at an art suppl/store or be creative and make your own. Cut out squares, circles and rectangles that resemble the shapes of your furniture.Use the same '/* inch scale. Crayon them the basic colors as your furniture before cutting them out. Now you are ready. Start arranging and have fun. To help you in your planning here are a few basic rules for maximum comfort. • Always allow plenty of space between coffe table and sofa or chair. Listed in the Summer Schedule of McHenry County College's Community Educat ion Department are a variety of classes for both the active and the not-so-active individual. There are two sessions of weight training scheduled, one before work and one at noon, to allow business people to par­ ticipate. Also being held at the college are two dancercize sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings and an exercise class for those 20 pounds or more overweight that meets Mondays and Wednesdays after work. An easy exercise class for people who haven't been exercising regularly will continue on Monday and Thrusday mor­ nings. Old Prairie Grove School, on Route 176 out of Crystal Lake, has been the home of some exercise classes and a few more are being added this summer. The Tuesday and Thursday night dancercize classes will continue. New to that location will be karate on Wednesday evenings ; "Fitness for Life," oil Tuesday and Thursday mor­ nings; and dance-exercise and tap dance on Saturday mor­ nings. In addition, two dancercize classes are to be held in the village hall in Richmond and an aikido class is scheduled for the Crystal Lake area. Check the Summer Schedule for dates, times and prices.
