At 6:25 p. m , the rescue squad went to the 4700 block of Praifife where a child had fallen from a bike. At 10:20 p.m., fire and rescue units were called to a house fire in the 2500 block of Lilac. At 11 46 p.m., the rescue squad went to the 100 block of Can­ terbury for an overdose. MAH»10 At 12:21 a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 1900 block of Orleans Drive for a person in pain. At 10:13 a.m., the fire department was called for an in­ vestigation in the 2600 block of Knob Hill Road. At 11:19 a.m., the rescue squad went to the 3600 block of Elm Street where a man had fallen. At 1:57 p.m., the rescue squad was called to the 5400 block of Highland for a person with a leg injury. At 3:16 p.m., the rescue squad went to the 4000 block of Mc- Cullom Lake Road for a woman with abdominal pain. MAY 11 At 3:30 p. m., the fire department was called for a grass fire in the 4700 block of Elm Street. At 6:32 p.m., the rescue squad was dispatched to the 900 block of Green Street for a person having a heart attack. At 10:02 p.m., the rescue squad was called to the 4500 block of Sussex Drive for a person with trouble breathing. MAY 12 At 2:44 a.m., the fire department was dispatched to a dump- ster fire in the 3500 block of Chapel Hill Road. At 6:13 a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 3800 block of Millstream for a person having chest pain. At 10:58 a.m., the fire department was sent to the intersection of River Road and Emerald Drive for arcing power lines. At 1:37 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched for an overturned sailboat on the Fort River, four blocks north of the dam. At 9:42 p. m., fire and rescue units were called for a garage fire in the 5300 block of Greenbrier. MAY 13 At 2:37 a.m., the rescue squad went to the 4900 block of Oak- wood for a person having trouble breathing. At 3:2 a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 4500 block of Crystal Lake Road for a person with a blocked catheter. At 5:46 p.m., the fire department was called to the 4200 block of Elm Street for a car fire. * Memorial Day programs set to remember war dead Memorial Day will be ob­ served in McHenry and John- sburg Monday, May 27, in honor of those who lost their lives defending this country. McHenry will mark the oc­ casion with a memorial program in the city park at 9:30 a.m., after which all par­ ticipants will march to the city beach and cemeteries for a ritual service. The rifle squad, color guards and everyone interested will go to Johnsburg where ceremonies will start at noon at the John­ sburg bridge and move on to St. John's cemetery. All civic, church, county and fraternal organizations, scout troops, baseball and other youth groups are urged to participate in these services and parades. TILL 8 IVM fc\T. 8-5 Stinespring elected into school's Hall of Fame , Three nature walks set in county forests, prairies When Carl Schurz High School, Chicago, hosts a 75th anniversary celebration Sun­ day, May 19, a McHenry couple will be honored through their election into membership in the school's Hall of Fame. They are Mae Marty Stinespring and her late husband, Harry P; Stinespring, both of the Class of 1930. The couple met at Schurz when he was senior class president and she was vice­ -president. Both are being honored for their community service. Her many contributions to the community include her work as chairman of the McHenry Healthcare Foundation. She was founder of the McHenry Mental Health Clinic. Her husband was a member of the* all-state football team and participated in basketball and track. An attorney, he was an officer of the McHenry Hospital Board of Directors, first chairmen of the First National Bank of McHenry Board of Directors, district chairman of the Kishwaukee District Boy Scouts and president of Automatic Spring Coiling Corp. In the 75-year history of the S c h u r z a n n i v e r s a r y celebrations, over 100,000 students have graduated from the school. Spring wildflowers will be highlighted during three in­ terpretive walks this weekends- sponsored by the McHenry ^ County Conservation District. The walk on Saturday, May 18, at the Nippersink Canoe Base on Route 12, just west of Fox Lake, will feature the floral contrasts between the upland forest and the lowland communities present on the site. The walk will begin at 1 p.m. Two walks are scheduled for Sunday, May 19 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Volunteer Chris Rechten will point out the wildflower species supported by the forests and streams of the popular Rush Creek Con­ servation Site near Harvard. Dan Bixler will lead the walk at Indian Ridge, focusing on the plants in bloom which only grow in dry gravel hill prairie, which is extremely rare in Illinois. All walks are at a relatively leisurely pace and cover ap­ proximately one mile. No pre- registration is necessary and all are free of charge.
