McHenry County Extension advisers Nancy Moore and Brian Sager recently attended a seminar in Washington, D.C. on public policy education. Moore and Sager are among 40 Illinois extension advisers who are members of a pilot program training to provide effective public policy education to clients. The program started two years ago wfyen advisers first learned where and how to gather statistics and the workings of the local - govern ment. Since the program was designed to be on-site and hands- on, the second event and travel experience was to Springfield. The legislative process was defined and representatives from many departments in state government briefed the advisers on what their department did and how it worked. National government and Washington, D.C. was the next stop in the program. While in Washington, Moore and Sager were introduced to persons who provide background information for White House briefings to key policymakers. They toured and had training from the Congressional budget office, as well as background on the development and progress of the 1985 Farm Bill. Additional in formation was given by the Director of the USDA Con sumer's office, the Federal Extension Service, the Economic Research Service, and several co-op lobbying groups. The group was addressed by Derweiit Renshaw from the European Communit ies Delegation on the European perspective and organization of SWISS- MAID BAKERY HARVARD.IL WOODSTOCK, n P'A*S<r»A SW/SS MAID'S OWN I •EGG •SPINACH •WHOLE WHEAT •LOW CHOLESTEROL •SALAD PASTA •ROTONI •SHELL PASTA •ELBOW MACARONI Delicious Pasta For Soups, Salads, Main Courses, Side Dishes, etc. <> $1.09 Per Package - 2 LOCATIONS- HARVARD: 104 E.
