Just try it again, and it'll get easier. Win, lose, doesn't matter. You do it for the love of it. You do it because you want to. "I don't worry about the response, not really. No one really knows me, or about me, until I talk to them. I can't gauge the response, and it doesn't really matter. I'm George Hauser swimming t to let people know that epileptics can lead normal lives. I love to long distance swim. I do it because I love it." The English Channel may soon undergo a major facelift, according to Hauser. Consequently, his August swim may be one of the last across the briny waterway. "They're supposed to build a tunnel under it or a bridge across it. Any major con struction would halt people from swimming the Channel. Yep, I may be one of the last people to do it," Hauser said. The swim is fast ap proaching, but Hauser isn't counting the minutes. • "It's gonna come," he says, "I don't think about how many days or months. That doesn't bother me." Instead, Hauser thinks about what he will do after this attempt, which he says is his final long-distance swim. "One TV guy in Houston asked me what I was going to do next, and I told him I was thinking about the mini-golf circuit. "Seriously, though, I think I'll buy a scull and start rowing. That would really be enjoyable. There are some serious rowing racesKaround. That would be great. I could start by rowing up and down the Fox River." For George Hauser, the fun and laughs really never end. "Hey, what about those Celtics? Bird, imury or not, is unbelievable. Tne last game against Philly, he went to his left, and ..." Geneva LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Bob Brownell of Burton's Bridge came back from a disappointing night one week ago at tne Lake Geneva Raceway when his own car broke down and he had to sub-ride a different car in an attempt to keep his point lead. His fifth place finish in the feature did not keep the point lead for him two weeks ago, but Saturday night, with his Firebird back m winning form, Brownell won the 30-lap feature and may have regained the point lead over last week's winner, Fran Prestay of Silver Lake, Wis. The win for Brownell was a spectacular drive after he came from 10th starting spot to finally move into second. Brownell was Eddie May of Crystal Lake, who slipped into second place on lap 24, and those top spots held. Kevin Rein of Woodstock was fifth. BrOwnell's win was his second of the se&son, and he becomes the first driver to score twice in the six nights of racing. Dave Melhan of Johnsburg was a sixth-place finisher in the 20-lap hobby stock feature. Tony Bentz of McHenry finished third in the qualifying round of the mini-champS division. This week's racing schedule will be altered, as the stock cars will race on Friday night, with the off-road vehicles running on Saturday and Sunday.
