Warm-weather travelers can expect a solid calendar of wild and woolly festivals, specialty historic re- enactments .. . even family food events during the 1965 season at Seven Acres An­ tique Village and Museum, Route 20 and South Union Road, Union, 111. More than 100 of the world's top exhibitors will participate. Old-Fashioned July 4th Fest, July 4-5-6- 7, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A four-day weekend filled with outdoor food, wild West gun- fight shows, plus entertainment and demonstrations. There will also be kids games, special food sales . . . and an In­ dependence Day Flea Market. Civil War Days, July 13-14, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This time it's a realistic battle of Civil War troops who simulate infantry action of the 1860s. Watch while the Blue and the Gray face off on a battlefield; everyone's garbed in uniform. There is also a weekend Civil War encampment that features 19th Century weapons ex­ hibits, a medical tent. . . everything you might have seen on an actual battlefield. And for collectors, a two-day indoor Civil War Relic Sale that boasts hard-to-find memorabilia, uniforms and accessories. Food and refreshments served. Annual Rod, Custom and Classic Car Show, July 21, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A yearly salute to collectors who exhibit their TLC wheels for museum visitors. Top Midwest collectors and car clubs will display more than 100 hot rods, and custom and classic cars on the showgrounds. Trophies will be awarded. Outdoor food will be available for everyone. Also . . . new this year: the first annual "Tire Changing Champion­ ship," where prizes are^on tap for the fastest wheel swapper." Categories for men and women. AnnualCornFest, Aug. 17-18,9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A relic Minneapolis steam thresher provides the muscle for this two-day country corn boil that boasts old-time competitions. 4th Annual Great Northfield Jesse James Bank Raid, Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 31 - Sept. 2, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The na­ tion's only reenactment of Jesse James' famous 19th Century bank heist in Nor­ thfield, Minnesota. Nearly 50 costumed townfolk help provide the backdrop dur­ ing a recreation of the violent assault on Northfield by members of the James and Younger gangs. The good guys win, though . .. and James and his thugs are sent packing by angry residents who fight back with their own weapons. Jesse and his bunch are on horseback, and you'll see professional stuntmen perform in-the-round outdoors in an authentic village. Lots of noise, plenty of shooting (blanks, of course) . . . and there's even an actual "blow up" of the Northfield Bank by Jesse James.
