Regner, McHenry Township resident to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, US Army Reserve. Regner's new rank was pinned on June 8 by Major. General A. Juarez, Commander of the 85th Armor Training Division. The ceremony took place at 85th Headquarters at the USAR Center, Arlington Heights. Also helping to pin on the new rank was Regner's wife, Audrey and son, Jonathan. ° Regner was recently assigned to the 85th Division as the Division G-2. In this position he assumes responsibilityfor military intelligence and security functions for the Division, and also for the Division's mobilization planning and coordination. In civilian life Regner is the McHenry Township Highway Commissioner. "Both jobs are demanding," Regner said, "and don't leave me much free time; but then, this is true of most- active Army Reservists. "There has to be citizen- soldiers like me if the USA is to maintain a strong national security posture at a reasonable cost. I make sure my road comn^sssioner resonsibilities are well-covered before I per­ form my reserve duties, which are don mostly on one or two weedends a month, with an additional odd day or tWo otherwise. "There's a lot of hard wock involved", he said, "but it's also alotoffun. McKaige Alvina Barbara McKaige, formerly of McHenry, died Tuesday morning, June 11,1985, in Cedar Crest, New Mexico. She was 86 years old, born Dec. 6, 1898 in New York City, to Julius and Minnie (Kleist) Bumb. She married James F. McKaige Feb. 22, 1922; and he preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. McKaige had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in McHenry for 23 years. Surviving are five children: Dorothy McKaige of Cedar Crest, Stuart (Fran) McKaige of Stamford, Conn., Barbara (Pieter) Paulding of Albany, N Y , H e l e n ( R o n ) W a l t e r s o f - McHenry and James F. (Pat) McKaige, Jr. of Stamford; 14 grandchildren and seven great­ grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be made in Connecticut. Bernard J. Feilen Bernard J. Feilen, 70, of Wonder Lake, died Friday, June 7,1985, in his residence. He was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Chicago, the son of John and Josephine (Frett) Feilen. A resident of Wonder Lake the past six years, formerly of Chicago, Mr. Feilen had been employed as a salesman most of his life; and worked more than 15 years for Acme Parts and Supply Co., Chicago; distributors of automotive supplies. Surviving are his daughter Barbara F. and a son Bernard, both of Wonder Lake; four sisters, Julia May of Elmwood Park, 111., Mrs. Raymond (Suzanne) Conway of Oak Lawn, 111., Mrs. Nicholas (Genevieve) Aniust of Tinley Park, 111. and Dolores McMillan of Wonder Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna, Dec. 1, 1973; a daughter Diane; one brother; and his parents. A Funeral Mass was conducted by Father Dorrance Tranel at 10 a.m. Monday, in Christ the King Catholic Church, Wonder Lake. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Evergreen Park. Arrangements were handled by Justen's Wonder Lake FXineral Home. RuthE. Oesterlund Ruth E. Oesterlund, 65, of Wonder Lake, died Saturday, June 8,1985, in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. She was born in Chicago May 13, 1920, the daughter of Gustav and Ellen (Swanson) Oesterlund. Miss Oesterlund lived in the Wonder Lake area about 30 years, having come from Chicago; and had retired June 1, after 28 years of service as a switchboard operator and-office clerk for Morton Thiokol Co., Inc., Ring wood. Surviving are six nieces; 12 grandnieces and , grand- nephews; and four' great- grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Mildred Hill and a brother Gus Oesterlund. Funeral services were con­ ducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Pastor Merle D. Conklin in Wonder Lake Bible Church; and burial was in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock. Friends called from 5 to 9 p:m. Monday at the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Wonder Lake Bible Church. Charles R. Bergdahl Charles R. Bergdahl, 79, of McHenry, died Thursday, June 6, 1985, in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born in Ishpeming, Mich. Aug. 1,1905, the son of John and Alma Bergdahl. A resident of the McHenry and Wonder Lake area the past 35 years and member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, McHenry, Mr. Bergdahl had been in the real estate business most of his life and was associated with Kent Corp. and the Wonder Lake Syndicate. Surviving are his wife Ellen "Birdie" (Detgen) whom he married June 19, 1931, in Melrose Park; a son Leslie (Melody) of Marshfield, Wis; three grandchildren; a brother Arnold of New York, NY; and a sister Ruth Bergdahl of Chicago. Gladys Hollenbach Gladys V. Hollenbach, 76, of Pistakee Bay, McHenry, died Sunday, June 9, 1985, in t̂ Itp Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, 111. She was born in Chicago March 9, 1909, the daughter of James F. and Bessie (Hlavacek) Mraz. A longtime resident of Pistakee Bay, Mrs. Hollenbach had resided in River Forest, HI. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Wicks of Wilmette, 111. She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert A. Hollenbach in 1957. He was the former owner of Hollenbach Sausage Co., Chicago. A Funeral Mass will be con­ ducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, with Pastor John c. Holdren officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
