Currently repairs are estimated to amount to ap­ proximately $8,000. Bids for the repair work will be released at a later date. < There was some discussion as to whether the problems are inherent in the design of the boiler or if a faulty boiler was originally installed in the building. The board will continue to observe the problems and may consider legal action against the boiler manufacturer and-or installer at a later date, however, this will result only after a study of the boiler has been made. Board member Tom Walsh submitted his resignation to the board stating that he continues to have many conflicts that make him unable to attend most meetings.' The board will be announceing a replacement to finish his term at the first meeting in July. The board voted to change their banking services to the Wonder Lake State Bank in Johnsburg. This will affect the district's general checking account as well as other specialized checking accounts and several savings accounts. This move is being made to save money for tne school district, and the board em- sized that both its former ink and the Wonder Lake band are equally secure. However, Wonder Lake State Bank is willing to offer more services at significant savings to the school district. The former bank can be used in the future for loans and other bank services. Insurance rates for the district will be increasing 60 percent over the next year. This increase is not unexpected, according to Business Manager Pat Bingman, and a survey of other insurance companies indicated that changing in­ surance carriers would not result in a savings to the district. There is also the consideration that if the district were to continue to change carriers often, they would Decome un­ desirable to the insurance companies, who are unwilling to carry customers who switch often. The board said that a copy of the insurance information will be available for inspection. Farms plan education program for visitors What's fun, free, and educational for the entire family? It's Farm Visit Day, on Sunday, June 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. Eleven northern Illinois farm families are inviting the public to visit their farms and learn firsthand how they live and work. You can visit beef farms, 'dairy farms, swine farms, and even two horse farms. You will see modern farms in action, and the entire family will be on hand at each farm to guide groups around the buildings, answer questions, and register guests. Each farm will be different, and visitors are encourged to visit several farms. The eleven participating farms are located in Kane, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago Counties. Farm Visit Day is sponsored by farm and com­ modity organizations in the counties ana coordinated by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service. Participating counties have prepared pamplets, available from the county Extension of­ fice, providing further details about their farms.
