Page 14 McHENRY PLAINDEALER Section A Wednesday, July 24,19M Neighborhood news Lakemoor-Lilymoor: Vehicle screech drives host to worry The sound of emergency vehicles screeched throughout our area Wednesday, July 10, South Lily Lake Road was closed to traffic, the result of a one-car rollover at one of the dangerous hills which are a challenge to speedv drivers. Lorry Deeke of South Lily Lake Road was on her wby home in hopes of arriving there before her expected company. She worriedly asked an officer stationed near her home what had happened, and was in formed that an Oldsmobile had rolled over. Doris Low 653-9262 Terrified, knowing that her guest drove an Olds she ran up the hill only to see her friend's car waiting to come through, while another vehicle was on its back supported by a completely crushed roof. The rescue squad took the injured driver for emergency care. Now Lily Lake Road has ha4 its third rollover in two months. Enough already! HOME BURNED Saturday night, July 13, was hot, humid and full of strange so&nds. The sirens of rescue vehicles and fire engines were all surrounding and confusing as to their meaning. Some of the wails were the call of help for a burning home in Lilymoor. The white frame house that had housed the Svoboda family in the past and was now the Jim <#ager residence, was ablaze, With dual towers of flames visible across Lily Lake. The scorched, burned supports and front porch are a reminder of the power of fire and the loss and destruction that are a result. LL LADIES LEAGUE The ladies met at Helen Para's home the evening of July 10 for their monthly get- together. The meeting was not held at Ann Sossong's home as usual, due to the lack of strength of Sophie Paterson, Ann's mother. % Julia Kraus won two prizes, first at bunco, plus the special. Jean Dember was second place winner, with Millie Zabroski taking home the booby prize. This ladies organization has been meeting for many years.
