Couple weds; honeymoons in Caribbean DIR. AND MRS. RICHARD DOBBEN Following their exchange of wedding vows May 25, Dr. and Mrs. Richard L. Dobben em barked on a honeymoon on the Virgin Islands, touring St. Croix and St. Thomas for a week and a half. The bride is the former Maryann Smith, daughter of Jacquelyn S. Smith, 3013 N. Oakwood, McHenry and Bryce E. Smith, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Barbara and Glen Dobben of South Holland, 111. are the parents of the bridegroom. The Rev. Steve Washburn officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony in the Congregational Universalist Church, Wood stock, before an altar decorated with roses and peonies. To further enhance the setting, white bows with silk roses decorated the loft; white bows graced the pews, and can delabra bedecked with pink and white ribbons flanked the main aisle at the rear of the church. Special music included "What I'll Give you," "Lord's Prayer" and "Wedding Song." The bride wore a white on white jacquard gown, cut in a V to the waist at the back, with a sweetheart neckline, puffy sleeves, a sash encircling the waist and a chapel length train. A fingertip veil was secured to her white satin derby, which was turned up on the side to reveal white silk roses and finished with a band of lace and pearls. Her heart shape bouquet of white and burgundy silk roses, draped with pearls, was accented by white and mauve ribbon streamers. Carolyn Smith of Oberlin, Ohio was the maid of honor, ridesmaids were Terrie O'Dea ta, Taisa Halibey of Oafespark, 111., and Pamela and Dobben, both of South Holland^ They were attired in mauve taffeta dresses styled with a sweetheart neckline, elbow length puffy sleeves edged with a ruffle, and full skirts, gathered to effect a scalloped hemline. The maid of honor wore a hairpiece of white and burgundy silk roses; and the bridesmaids wore derbies matching their dresses and trimmed with mauve and burgundy ribbons. They carried nosegays of pink, burgundy and white silk roses and pink ribbons. All of the flowers and derbies were made by the bride's aunt. Richard Petrak of Forest Park, HI. was the best man. Groomsmen were Brian Dob ben, Doug and Steve Dobben of South Holland, and Paul Smith of McHenry. The mother of the bride chose a street length dress of rose chiffon over a rose underskirt, long frail sleeves, and a high ruffled neckline. A light pink chiffon street length dress with a pleated skirt was the choice of the groom's mother. A reception for 125 guests was held at the Old Courthouse Inn in Woodstock. The new Mrs. Dobben graduated from McHenry high school in 1976; received a BA from Lake Forest College in 1980 and a MS from Northern Qllhois University in 1983; and is a counselor for the McHenry County Youth Service Bureau. Her husband graduated from Thornwood High School, Lake Forest, in 1975; Lake Forest College in 1979 with a BS ; and the Chicago Medical School in 1984. FRONT ST., McHENRY, 385-0882 Adults do riot have an exclusive claim on serious emotional problems. In fact, thousands of adolescents in Illinois suffer from problems serious enough to require professional guidance. The same proportion of teenagers as adults suffer from emotional problems. Adolescence is a time of "growing pains" and, consequently, some confusion. As they slowly move from dependence to independence, adolescents struggle with educational and career decisions, peer pressure and emerging sexuality. Some teens can't handle the pressure. Some may abuse drugs, become delinquent or run away. Still others become extremely depressed -- some enough to try suicide. Suicide ranks as the second leading cause of death among adolescents. A teenager experiencing emotional problems should be taken seriously. If you think your teenager may need help, call us. Riveredge Hospital is a community mental health resource.
