McHenry advanced to the final four in the tourney with key hits by Dixon* Samen and Doerfert, and the sparkling defense of Bonde, Pox, Stropoli and Turner. Jumping out to a five-run lead in the hotly-contested semifinal duel with Woodstock I wasn't enough. With Woodstock leading 8-7 after 5'2 innings, McHenry scrambled to tie the game in its half of the sixth. Woodstock, however, came back with two in the top of the seventh, setting the stage for a valiant come back try by McHenry. A leadoff double by Carlson was nullified by a tough call from the umpire, and with the tying runs in scoring posi tion, the game ended with a groundout. The girls haven't ended their sea son, however. The Pigtail League will be sending these All-Stars, as well as a group of 11-12 year-olds, to the Cary Tournament, which begins tonight. Friday. Large and small-mouthed bass can be en ticed to hit on minnows and crayfish. Most people are anchoring in Jon boats off the dam spillway, casting Into the frothy Water.
