"I didn't agree with their corporate policies," he said. * Tne station and Standard Oil have been in a business part nership for 50 years of which Koepke was part of 12 of those years. Hie dispute centers around Standardfs move to -ac commodate customers looking for a quick-stop where they can buy gas and pick up a loaf of bread. They are doubling as a mini-food mart, self-serve station, he said. But Koepke intends to keep his business free of any grocery store imitation. Brace's Mobile at Elm and Richmond Streets will remain a full-service gas station. Dick Boncosky, distributor for Mobile Oil, said businesses examine their criteria for profitable business part nerships. When one is at odds with another, the partnership dissolves and a new one begins. This station's owner believes his customers want a genuine gas station, complete with wind shield washers and oil checkers. "(We) will give the service required," Koepke said. Customers have commented on their satisfaction with the station. "Not everyone wants to get out and pump their own gas, he relayed from customers. However, a self-serve island is available for those who do. In addition to regular ser vices, the gas station employs three full-time mechanics for repair work. Koepke shut down the gas station in June for two weeks to prepare the station for the change over. Now that the new operation is in full swing, Koepke said his business volume has increased. He plans to celebrate the surge in business with a grand opening, but has not set the date Bruce Koepke, owner of Brace's Mobile, pum] gas into a customer's car at his station at ti FRI - AUG 2...Ctokie making far Ki4a Noon-3p.m. *10®° MON - AUG 5...Cake Decorating (2) 11 a.m. arid 7 p.m. - *20°° (5 weeks) FRI • AUG 9...MEL0N CARVING • 7 p.m. SAT- AU6 10...Uses of Cake Decorating Tibet 11 a.m. ' FREE!
