That's the composite Miss McHenry County 1965, drawn from a preview of the 14 beautiful mostly-blond women in the Miss McHenry County Pageantry nearing its July 31 climax. The 14 candidates from throughout McHenry County will vie before the J / • ' /" - ' - - r«\ / , -V Karen Kantlehner Richmond grandstand audience as the opening night feature of the McHenry County Fair. They will appear in swim suits and formals, answer questions for a panel of judges and promenade for the au dience. The 1965 bevy ranges in height from 5- 2 Anna Rizicka, Miss Wonder Lake, to 5- 10 Melissa Reeves, Miss Huntley, and 5- 10 Kathy Healy, Miss Harvard. Nearest the composite are Valerie Bailey, Miss Algonquin, 5-7,115 pounds, light brown hair and hazel blue eyes, and Magaret Schmitt, Miss Fox River Grove, 5-7,115 pounds, blond hair and blue eyes. The candidates are active -- involved in sports, enjoying music and perform ing before the public -- but adding new hobbies and interests unheard of for women a decade ago. Beth Wilke, Miss Union, plans to become a dietitian and has prepared a special diet and exercise plan for her University of Illinois classmates. She lifts weights, runs, and cooks. Dawn Marshall, Miss McHenry, en joys rafting, aerobics and working out on the Nautilis. Karen Kantlehner, Miss Richmond, shows livestock, enjoys horseback riding, and raises sheep. Bailey, Miss Algonquin, also enjoys showing horses. Ruzicka, Miss Wonder Lake, is into canoeing. This year's group is career-oriented; many are college students, and all are community-minded as they take part in many community service projects. Shari Grewe, Miss Crystal Lake, had her own television show as a youngster on a Chicago station and is majoring in communications to continue in that field. Bailey plans to become a psychologist. Bailey and Miss Cary, Valerie Wagner, are Harper College students. Wagner wants a degree in Shari Grewe Crystal Lake special education to help the Bearing impaired.
