J TJEMPIAT aw The Lootens Family 28 horsepower Minneapolis Steam Engin can be seen at the 29th Annual Steam Show and Threshing Bee, held at Taylor Marshall Farm on Plank Road in Sycamore this weekend. Sycamore show features a look at steam power Tired of Theme Parks? Bored with Summerfest? Then try something different for a change. Plans are now completed for the 29th annual Steam Show and Threshing Bee to be held this weekend (Aug. 8 to 11) at the Taylor Marshall Farm in Sycamore. For a small admission fee, only $2 for adults (children under 12 are free), you and your family can view actual working steam engines. A steam-powered saw mill operates daily cutting huge logs into lumber, a threshing machine separates oats and straw, and an antique mill cuts wood into thin shingles. Other attractions include antique gas and kerosene tractors, craft demonstrations, a civil war unit, a charming barnyard zoo and a pedal pull for the youngsters. There is a small scale steam train in operation, and a walk through the flea market for "bargains." Daily attractions also include a parade at 1 p.m., craft demonstra tions, a civil war exhibit, and a Pedal Pull contest for youngsters. The beautiful hardwood grove on the Taylor Marshall farm provides an ideal setting for the Steam Show and Threshing Bee, with plenty of free parking, lots of shade trees, and natural amphitheater which guarantees a fantastic view of the daily parade. Lots of good food and cold drinks are available, so bring the whole family. The event will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Steam Pov^r Club, a not-for-profit organization. The Taylor Marshall-Farm is located one and a half miles north of; Route 64 on Rt. 23, two miles east on Plank Road, or nine miles west on Plank Road off Rt. 47.
