September 11.1W5 Community Woman's club holds tea party Community Calendar Members of the Woman's Club of Wonder Lake will be bringing out the silver service and displaying a table filled with finger sandwiches and fancy desserts Thursday, Sept. 19, for their annual Friendship Tea. This will be the first gathering for the Woman's Club since their May meeting and signals the beginning of a new year. « All ladies of the area are invited to Anne Sowers 653-9549 join the members for a strictly so­ cial evening enjoying the,'Eight of Us', a choral group from Woodstock High School, as they provide enter­ tainment for the evening. The tea will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Nativ­ ity Lutheran Church hall. Jr. High Football • « Both the lightweight and heavy­ weight football teams at Northwood Junior High have been working hard getting ready for their season to begin. The lightweights consist of seventh and eighth-grade boys who are under 110 lbs. The heavyweights are seventh and eighth-grade boys who tip the scale at 110 lbs. or more. The lightweights will be playing five games this year, beginning Sept. 25, against Olson Junior High. Oct. 2 they take on St. Mail's; Oct. 10 against Belvidere; again Belvi- dere, Oct. 17; and the last game Oct. 23, against Olson Junior High. The heavyweights have four games scheduled, beginning with Ol­ son Junior High Sept. 26; St. Mary's, Fall programs at St. Paul's The Christian education programs at St. Paul Episcopal Church will be underway with the St. Paul's Mens Group from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Satur­ day, Sept. 14. Meetings will be held on four consecutive Saturdays at Whispering Point Center in the 4318- D office conference room. Topics for Saturday discussions will vary. The group will be co-led by Gil Fomaciari and Bob Babenko, Coffee and rolls will be served. Sunday school for the children be­ gins a new year Sunday, Sept. 15, with a 15-minute meeting at 9:45 a.m. with the Sunday school co-or- dinator,teachers, parents and chil­ dren in the Upper room. All parents and children are encouraged to attend. Local Bible school starts classes soon The Chicago School of Ministries is establishing a suburban extension in McHenry County. All classes be­ gin Monday, Sept. 30 and will be in the evening. -- CSM is interdenominational in scope and is committed to the au­ thority and inerrancy of Scripture. The faculty and administration sub­ scribes to the basic foundational truths of orthodox Christianity. Most of the courses offered at CSM will be accepted for credit at various schools throughout the nation. The main thrust, however, is the training of lay people in a local environment. Workers in the church can train for the ministry that God has given them without leaving for Bible school. At the same time, stu­ dents can be working in that same ministry. The Chicago School of Ministries is currently serving about 400 stu­ dents at Faith Tabernacle Church in Chicago. Surburban classes will meet at Calvary Assembly of God in Crystal Lake, Woodstock Assembly of God, First Baptist. Church in Woodstock and Maranatha Assem­ bly of God in McHenry. Five courses will be available this first trimester. Tuition costs are $15 per semester hour and most courses are two se- . mester hours. Registration for the Fall 1985 tri­ mester will take place at Calvary Assembly of God, 5906 S. Campus Crossroads FELLOWSHIP John Armon, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Mullen of McHenry, re­ ceived a graduate fellowship as a teaching assistant in mathematics at the University of Missouri, Rolla, Mo. Armon is a 1985 graduate of Knox College, Galesburg. W1UGRADS Two McHenry students were among more, than 300 who received degrees at the summer session at Western Illinois University, Ma­ comb. The graduates are Lee How­ ard Lexow, who received a bachelor of science degree: and Andrew Wil­ liam Mass, who was awarded a bachelor of arts degree.
