Arts Week celebrated Illinois Arts Week, an annual program of the Illinois Arts Council, will be celebrated Sept. 27 to Oct. 6. A continuation of the Illinois Arts council's 20th anniversary celebration, Arts Week coincides with Nation­ al Arts week, Sept. 23 to 30, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts. . The Illinois Arts Council provides posters, buttons, ad slicks and suggestion lists of activities to local arts councils, schools, libraries, park districts and other community organizations to assist in the planning of Arts week events. 1 Each Illinois community tailors Arts Week activity to its resources and needs. For Arts Week materials or information, contact your local arts council, chamber of commerce, IAC resource depot, or the Illinois Arts Council. 1985 marks the anniversary of the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency that provides grants and technical assistance to individual artists, community arts agencies and non-profit organizations presenting arts programming. The council is dedicated to supporting the arts of the state in all its diversity. Under the artistic direction of Abdoulaye Camara, jvho is former director of the Na- 4ionai Ballet of Senegal, the Muntu Hancers and drummers will per­ form two African dances. » A former principal dancer with )he Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Hubbard Street Dance Company, Ricardo Moyano has recently formed his own troupe, the Ar­ tisan Dance Company. In Fer- Inilab's Showcase, Mr. Moyano yill perform an expressive inodern solo, "Getting Out," and Jie and his company will perform a classical ballet selectiqp. I David Puszczewicz is a former )nember of six of Chicago's best- known dance companies and has performed in musical theater as well. He has recently opened his own studio and formed the David Puszh Dance Company. At Fer­ milab, he and Gigi Buffington, a former featured dancer with Gus Giordano, will perform the modern work, "Just Affairs." Larry Long is co-founder and director of the Ruth Page Founda­ tion School of Dance. His credits include choregraphing for the Lyric Opera Ballet and. Chicago Ballet and serving as former Ballet Master for the National Ballet and Harkness Ballet. Mr. Long's professional dancers from the Ruth Page Foundation School will perform a "Tribute to Ruth Page," a jazzy piece reminiscent of "Frankie and Johnny." This popular evening of dance is produced for Fermilab by the Ballet Guild of Chicago; admis­ sion is $6. Phone (312)840-3353 for reservations and further informa­ tion. Reservations are held for five days awaiting payment. Due to ticket demand, those reserva­ tions not paid for within five days are released for sale. Ramsey Auditorium is located in Wilson Hall, the central laboratory building of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Wilson Hall is easily visible from the two laboratory entrances, from the west on Kirk Rd. at Pine St., and from the east on Batavia Rd. at Rte. 59, between Butterfield Rd.
