Arrangements are incomplete at * the Querhammer Funeral Home, Crystal Lake. Rozalia Szajliai CRYSTAL LAKE - Rozalia Szaj­ liai of Hungary; 69, died Thursday, Sept: 12,1965, in Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, while visiting her rela­ tives in McHenry County. She was bom May 6,1916, in Eger, Hungary. Survivors include one daughter, Maria (Elmer) Kaup, Crystal Lake; three sons, Frank Deak, Woodstock, and Laszlo and Attila Deak, both in Hungary; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miklos Szajlai, Hungary. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Querhammer Funer­ al Home, Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 8 p.m. with the ReV. Mario Miller officiating. Interment will be private. Raymond J. Hird ALGONQUIN -- Raymond J. Hird, 90, Algonquin, died Friday, Sept. 13, 1985, at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. Born July 28,1895, in Ames, iowa, he was the son of Sarah Allen Hird. Before his retirement, he was em­ ployed by the Chicago Board of Edu­ cation as a machinist. Surviving are his wife, Harriet (Langohr) Hird, Algonquin; two daughters, Jacqueline Norgrenn, Al­ gonquin, and Joyce (Edward) Yenhy, Dulzura, Calif.; three grand­ children; and three great­ grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held Monday at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. There will be no visitation. Wait-Ross-Allanson Algonquin C h a p e l i s i n c h a r g e o f arrangements. Amos H. Shambaugh TWIN LAKES, Wis. - Amos H. Shambaugh, 86,1948 Pheasant Ave., Twin Lakes, formerly of Arlington Heights and Chicago, died Monday, Sept; 9,1985, in Burlington Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Wis. He was boen Oct. 31, 1898, in Chi­ cago, the son of Peter and Hattie Shambaugh. On April 11, 1920, in Chicago, he married Ethna Holz, who preceded hlm{n death April 22,1977. He also was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Delno. Graveside services were held Fri­ day in Forest Home cemetery, For­ est Park. Visitation was Thursday in Haase funeral home, Twin Lakes. John E. Mayer CRYSTAL LAKE - John E. Mayer, 89, Crystal Lake, died Fri­ day, Sept. 13, 1985, in Crystal Pines Nursing Home, Crystal Lake. Arrangements are incomplete at the Querhammer Funeral Home. Dr. C.F. Wente EAST DUNDEE - Dr. C.F. Wente, 84, of East Dundee, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1985 in Sher­ man Hospital, Elgin. He was bom May 12,1901, in Pem- brooke, Ontario, Can., son of the Rev. Henry and Louise Wente. He spent his school years in Crete, 111. He graduated from the Universi­ ty of Illinois College of Medicine in 1932. He began his medical practice in West Dundee in 1933, located at 127 W. Main St. until his retirement in 1974. During World War II, he was a commander in the U.S. Navy Medi­ cal Corps, stationed in the South Pacific for two years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee, Dundee VFW Post 2296, the Ameri­ can Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society and Kane County Medical Society. He served on the medical staffs of Sherman and St. Joseph hospitals in Elgin for 52 years. Surviving are his wife, Josephine (Manchak) Wente, whom he mar­ ried Sept. 6, 1933; one daugther, Mrs. Tom (Gail Ann) Compere, of Lodi, Calif.; two grandsons, Tom and Pete Compere, of Lodi, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Hollett, of Florida, Miss Irene Wente, of South Dakota, and Mrs. Robert Zenz, of Indiana; and one brother, Dr. Wal­ ter Wente, of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. William Triebold, and one brother, Dr. Hen­ ry Wente. Private services will be held Sat­ urday at 11 a.m. at the Miller Funer­ al Home in West Dundee. The Rev. Marvin W. Clausen will officiate. Martha Sunderlage ELGIN -- Martha Sunderlage, 90, of Elgin died Thursday, Sept. 12 at Olivette Nursing Home. She was bom on Jan. 28, 1895 in Schaumberg, the daughter of August and Sophia Doepke Sunderlage. She was a resident of Elgin most of her life. Sunderlage worked at the Elgin National Watch Company and at the Dietary Department of Sherman Hospital. She was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Elgin and was an active member of the choir. Survivors include several nieces apd nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents and three brothers. The funeral will be on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Elgin. The Rev. Susan Tyrell will officiate. There will be a private family burial on Monday, Sept. 16 at Dundee Town­ ship Cemetery East. Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 114 until the time of the service. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorials to St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Elgin. Joan Samelson ELGIN -- Joan Eggert Samelson of California, formerly of Elgin, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, in California. She was the daughter of Clarence and Norma Eggert. Samelson was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the PEO Sisterhood. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Pan- hillenic. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1944. Survivors include her husband, Don Samelson, two sons, Kirk Sa­ melson of Wyoming and Greg Sa­ melson of California, one sister, Ju­ lie Haka of Sycamore, and one brother Stuart Eggert of Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. The funeral will be Sfiturday, Sept., 14 at 2 p.m. at Schmidt Funer­ al Home in Elgin. The Rev. Eugene Carter will officiate.
