McHenry Sunday 12-inch Softball League In the Men's Sunday 12" Softball League this week, the following games had details reported. In addi­ tion, other scores were Garrelts' Plumbing 12, John's Place 6, and John's Place 6, Garrelts' Plumbing 5. Sportsman's is currently tied with Gary Lang for the league lead, both teams sporting 2-0 marks. Garrelts' and Mike's Buzz Out West are at 2-1, Cullom Knoll is 2-2 and John's Place is 1-3. Gary Lang 7, Cullom Knoll 1 Gary Lang scored all the runs it would need in a three-rfih first, cruising past Cullom Knoll. Henry Glick led the way with a hit and four RBI. Jim Huff drove in : another run, while Chris Lykke went 1-for-l. Tim Pankiewicz singled and tri­ pled for Cullom Knoll. Dave Baurer also singled and tripled, while Scott Mullen had one hit. Sportsman's 10, Mike's Buzz Out 1 Sportsman's got a phenoemonal five-hit performance from Rick Sor- enson to roll past Mike's Buzz Out West, 10-1. Rick Lively added a nifty 4-for-5 night, while Skip Belion homered and singled. Bellon's homer was the game-winning RBI. Sportsman's 8, Mike's Buzz Out 7 Mike's made a better showing in the nightcap, but still came out on the short end of the score. Rick Lively and Larry Harvey each went 3-for-4 to lead the win­ ners. Terry Harvey added two hits, as Sportsman's won the tight contest. Fall 12" Softball Ladies' Golf McHENRY COUNTRY CLUB Although skies were leaden and the air heavy with mist at times, the ladies of McHenry Country Club had .a few encouraging shots, enough to bring them back another time. Flying up the birdie tree were Linda Puccio on 8 and Evie Castle and Floss Miller on 14. Chipping in to hold par on 11 was Katheryn Bolger. Emulating her chipping skill were Liz Nolan on 7, Dot Freund on 4, Dee Overton on 8, Betty Rode on 15 and Mary Mut- chlnsky on 17. The main event of the day, a Point Tournament with A B C D four-lady ) teams, although having no excep­ tional scores reported, brought the following results: With 137 points, the team of Alvina Yopp, Katheryn Bolger, Toots Gerstad and Peg An­ derson came in first, followed by the team of Virginia Turner, Pat Mac- Donald, Kathy Haugen and a blind draw with 136 points. Chris Freund had three hits, all for extra bases, while John Doessel, Dick Adams, Butch Pintozzi, Jim Mclnerney and Gary MacGregor had two hits each for the winners. Rich Stull, Scott Young and Tom Worczak all went 2-for-3 for Back Door. Ace 16, Huckleberry 14 Ace Hardware scored eight runs in the bottom of the second, and added a five-run sixth, enough to topple Huckleberry Inn, 16-14. Dale Zalke led the Ace attack with three hits, including a double. Dan­ ny Turner, Kenny Miller, Brian Berger, Steve Weber and Steve Johnson added two hits apiece. Ken Boettcher, Bob Fowler and John Lanway all had extra base hits. .Tony Seda added a hit. Russ Beck went 5-for-5 for Huckle­ berry Inn. Bob Clawson added three hits and six RBI, including a homer. Steve Chappel and Bob Staley both went 3-for-4.
