Saturday, Sept. 28, there will be an all-day Advance (retreat) at Unity Church of Crystal Lake affording members of the congregation and community a vehicle for expression, sharing and growth in a safe, loving environment. This is the second in an ongoing series of such events, the first having been well-received by participants. Of the first Advance held July 27, Gary Sue Greene, Unity member, says: "I would like to say that Holly Miller, Judy Curran and Brian Combs made a Joyous transforma tion of what probably would have been a hard working Saturday into one of the most uplifting and re warding experiences 1 have ever known. For those of you who did not attend the retreat, let me say that other than being a totally loving, caring and supporting advancement of my spiritual growth, there was a sense of intimacy that was created among the participants. I can hardly wait to attend the next one, and hopefuly it will be something that can last a little bit longer because I did not want to go home. The Joys and highs are still with me now and I have felt closer to God since the workshop than I have in a long time." * The theme of the Advance is a "Sense of Celebration" to be devel oped through prayer, music, medita tion, sufi dancing and discussion. Highlights of the day include a medi tation workshop facilitated by Gayle O'Key, a discussion of the partici pants' favorite Bible text moderated by Dave Ukmen, a sing-a-long led by Holly Miller and guitar music per formed by Kevin Crews. The Advance will begin at 9 a.m. and run through 4:90 p.m. with reg istration occuring between 8:30 and 9 a.m. People who wish to attend are welcome to come for the whole day or whatever portion of the day is convenient. All are invited to bring a picnic lunch and; If they wish, a dish to pass. Babysitting will be avail able on a love offering basis as is the Advance itself.
