Communications In your issue of April 2d you pub- lished a communication signed by Winnetka Campaign Committee, in which was quoted a letter signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Committee on Grievances of the Chi- cago Bar Association, and relating to the professional career of Mr. Harry P. Simonton of the Chicago bar. We are informed that the records of the Chicago Bar Association show the fol- lowing facts, which apparently had been overlooked by the gentlemen who signed the letter above referred to: 1. On February 7, 1902, Mr. Harry P. Simonton was recommended as an applicant for membership in the Chi- cago Bar Association. 2. On March 1, 1902, the Board of Directors of that Association referred to the Admissions Committee the ap- plication of Mr. Harry P. Simonton for membership, together with a letter of 'objection. 3. On June 20, 1902, a report on this matter was made to the Board of Directors of the Association by the Admissions Committee. 4. On November 20, 1902, Mr. Si- monton requested leave to withdraw his application for membership in the Association, and such leave was given. 5. Mr. Simonton appears to have been admitted to the Bar Association on March 15, 1911. These facts throw some light on the controversy mentioned in last week's columns, and will correct an impres- sion which may have been gained from a one-sided statement of the affair.
