Briggs in Sherman avenue, Evanston. Mr. Briggs has just taken the north shore agency for this car. The Elcar is built by the Elkhart Carriage & Motor Car Co., of Elk- hart, Ind, which began building vehicles 47 years ago and which created the famous Pratt line of buggies and carriages. It has been building automobiles for twelve years. The four cylinder touring car sells for $1,395, and the six cylinder for $1,595, placing the car in the medium priced class. "The Elcar", explained Mr. Briggs today, "is an amply large, beautiful car which is never extreme or fad- dish in style, but always has the distinctive refinement of design that comes from nearly half.a century of experience in fine vehicle building. "It is built for that class of buy- ers who, while they demand size, beauty and comfort in an automobile, wish also to be sure of enduring, economical service, and who sensibly desire to obtain these essentials without wasteful cost. "The 1920 chassis in strength, bal- ance and co-ordination of its units is an engineering triumph. "The four-cylinder engine is the Elcar-Lycoming. It develops 37% horsepower at 2100 R. P. M. It has quick getaway, and on hills or wher- ever sustained surplus power is need- ed, its performance is amazing. "The six-cylinder engine is the new 7-R. Red Seal Continental. The com- ing of this engine is an event in the motor world."
