WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1920 NORTH SHORE SHOW ATTRACTS CROWDS Twelve Makes of Cars On Show in Ball Rcom of North Shore Hotel at Evanston The north shore automobile show, the first ever held, wil close a suc- cessful week Saturday night in the North Shore hotel in Tvanston, where on an average of five hundred residents of the north shore have visited the exhibition daily since the opening Monday night. It is the greatest display of auto- mobiles ever seen on the north shore and the ball room, where the cars are being shown, is the mecca of north shore automobile enthusiasts. Twelve makes of cars are demon- exhibition. Because of limited space ing the week the agents have heen machines during the first hour of the more than twelve automobiles. Dur- the north shore, demonstrating the MARMON ESTABLISHED UNIQUE RECORD IN WESTERN MUD ROADS Fourteen hundred miles with chains on all fours is the mud and bad road record set up recently bv Tom Roberts, Marmon distributor of Denver. He started out from the Marmon plant in Indianapolis with a demonstrator of the new series Marmon 34 after several days of rain. There had come a clear day and Mr. Roberts thought the storms were over. When he got nicely started, however, it began to rain again. Rain on boulevards is not pleasant, but rain in Missouri and Kansas with gumbo mud and long stretches of dirt roads is another thing. Accord- ingly he had to drive 1400 of the 1750 miles journey to Denver with chains on all fours. Once the car fell into a mud hole so deep that there was before he could extricate it. He got out, however; without aid and under his own power, and conquered that road and arrived at Denver in good season, considering "the almost im- passable condition of the road". He claims that the performance of the BIRTH OF PROTECTION Protection was born with the re- public. It is the faith and the practice of every civilized nation un- der the sun, save one. It has sur- vived the assaults of all the profes- sors of the "dismal science" called political economy. It has stood up against all the half-knowledge of learned men who never had sense enough to transmute their learning into wisdom.--Thomas B. Reed. tomb?" By so doing you'll postpone in- definitely the time when it does "quit talkin'." If your battery's "dead for all time," we'll deal with you fairly and honorably--that is, only recommend a new one as a last resort.
