SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1920 The Simple Cure Sane habits of living will prevent most of the ills to which the flesh is heir, even if it won't cure them. Sane habits of living will cure those ills under which the economic body of the whole world is suffering to- day. A general elimination of ex-j travagance is the cure, not only in | this country, but in all the countries | of the world, not more currency with | which to encourage spending, nor more credit to discourage economy. Few people like the home remedy when there is to be had something | called by a high sounding name that will be prescribed by an expensive physician. Most of us like to feel the importance that having something unusual suggests. As a result we neglect, or ignore, those minor ills until they reach a point at which they demand attention and then we pay handsomely to be told what to do. Much this same condition in our financial condition today. We know what we ought to do but we don't do it. We go right along in the easy and pleasant way, unmind- ful of the occasional twinges that foretell trouble, waiting until that time comes when we shall have passed the point of individual cure. It's a silly thing for a nation of intelligent people to do. exists SCOUT TROOP NO. 1 HOLDS 2ND KNOT TYING CONTEST >- An elimination knot tying contest for members of Boy Scout Troop No. 1 of Winnetka took place at Com- munity House on Thursday evening, February 5. The scouts were told to tie certain knots, and after 10 to 15 seconds, time was called. All those who did not have the knot tied within that time were eliminated from the contest. If any of the knots were not correctly tied the scout who had tied the knot was out of the contest. The results of the contest were: Cabray Wortley, first prize. Robert Hall second prize. Charles Rummler, third prize. The results for the patrols were: Panther, first place. Buffalo, second place. Lion, third place. When asked what he wished to advertise he stated he was on the lookout for a good motorboat but was going to wait until spring before advertising the fact. "You see," he says blusing a deep red, "I'd buy a Ford to take my heart's desire out riding but it takes at least one hand to steer. In a mo- torboat one can ride out to the open and leave the boat take its own course and both arms then be put in- to commission without any danger of hitting a tree or upsetting some other machine and landing in a ditch. There's no chance for a sol- lission like that on the deep blue 'sea.
