BROWN Amy Macintyre Selected to Write Dr. Alice Barlow-Brown in Serbia; Writes Poem to Send with $40 Raised in Schools Since Amy has launched herself upon an author's career her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Macintyre, who live at 533 Hawthorn lane, have been kept busy thinking up ideas for Amy's literary talent. Amy, who is only 12 years old, is making a strong bid for the Juvenile ! poet laureate title of Winnetka. In school the work of the little author has drawn forth the admiration. of teachers and pupils alike. Some of her work has recently come to the attention of prominent residents in the village who have commended highly upon its unique thoughts and the simplicity of its style. The little authoress discovered her talents about two years ago and has written several whimsical poems and fairy stories. When the school children of Win- netka made souvenier post cards about town, raising $40 for the Dr. Alice Barlow-Brown mission in Serbia, Amy was selected to write the letter to accompany the money. This she did--the letter being a snap- py poem. Part of it reads: "And don't forget the hungry Hun .. In Winnetka, Wilmette, Kenilworth and Glencoe, gasolene alleys are in vogue. The speed cops are overhaul- ing rusting and squeaking machines in preparation for the big spring campaign on promiscuous drivers. With the exception of the Cook county territory, which has three of its four deputy sheriffs' positions - filled; the north-shore-towns are pre pared to reduce speeding to a mini- mum. Winnetka, which has employed only one rider in the past, will this year have as entries two experienced men --John Hanselman and Albert Ottone.
