: WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 3, 1920 ------ Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls' Camps Well Equipped; Camp Benefit April 6 | This summer is the eleventh year for camps at Hamlin Lake. This lake has about twenty five miles of shore line, inland from Lake Michi- gan about, two miles and distant from Ludington eleven miles. The camping site is one of the best in thirty. Boys and girls are expected to register during the month of May and one half of the camp fee must be paid at that time. The expenses incidental to going to and returning from camp will be paid for by the individual camper. This amounts to this part of the country, the drain- age and water being unsurpassed. Rev. J. W. Davies has owned his land and built buildings himself and has made possible the camp with- out any rental charges whatever. He built a fine new dining hall and kit- chen 48 ft. long and 16 ft. wide last summer and this year proposes to build two cabins. General Program The following general program is carried out-- 6:30--Rising, stretching for five minutes and a dip. 7 :00-8 :30--General camp work. A group is assigned to wash the dishes and the others clean up the campus, air the beds, etc. 8:30-9:30--Instruction period. 9:30-11:30--Some kind of con- struction work. c 11:30-12 :00--Free time. 12 :00--Dinner. 12:30-1:00--Rest period. 1:00-1:30--Free time. -3:00--Games. 4:.00--Swimming. 5:00--Reading or games. 00-6 :00--Free time. Supper :00-9 :00--Camp Fire. 9:00--Bed time. Select Leaders Arthur M. Barrett will have charge of the construction work during the boys' camp. Other lead- ers have not yet been arranged for. The camp charge will be twenty dollars and the groups limited to exercises 888 LE NOU AG personal supervision to both boys' and girls' camps. In order to provide for some of the over head camp expenses which are not covered by the twenty dollars |° such as cook, boat rentals and other details, and also to provide a sum for scholarships to enable some of the Boy Scouts to earn their summer outing, a benefit card party will be given at the Winnetka Woman's club on Tuesday, Apsil 6, at 2 o'clock. Those who do not play cards can hear Mrs Frederick Dickinson read Barrie's play "The Old Lady Shows her Medals". Mrs. Harvey Anning and Miss Katherine Green will pro- vide a few musical numbers. Mrs Delebecque and her daughter Pearl, will leave Win- netka about the middle of April to spend a few days visiting at the home of Dr. Esther Parker in Ithaca, N. Y., with whom Mrs. Delebecque worked at the Winnetka Dispensary in France during the war. On April 22, they will sail aboard the steamer Rochambeau for France, where Mrs. Delebecque expects to do some work at the American Mem- orial hospital at Rheims. Later they will make their home in Nancy, Mrs. Delebecque's old home. They expect to be gone about two years. Mr. Delebecque is planning to go to France at a later date, for a brief visit and they will all return to- gether. He will make his home with Mr. and Mrs. George Keller, 898 Ash street, during their absence. A large number of members were present. The Spiritual director, Rev. F. J. Haarth, initiated three recruits. "Wish I Had" was always seeing things that he wanted, but never had the money to get them, because he had never done anything about a bank account, but "wish he had" it. "I'm Going To" was his sister. She, too, saw many things she wanted, and it was her real intention to have them "sometime," but always failed tc get them, because when the matter of starting a bank account was men- tioned, she always said, "I'm a going to," and let it go at that.
