WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 17, 1920 LAUD INTERCHURCH WORLD MOVEMENT Episcopal Church Prelate Explains Position of Denomination In Prospective Financial Campaign The Rt. Rev. Charles P. Anderson, Episcopal Bishop of Chicago, this week expressed his hearty sympathy with the plans and purposes of the Interchurch World Movement, the thirty denominations of which will inaugurate on April 25, an eight day campaign to raise $366,777,572 for the world needs of those denominations. Because of the fact that the Episco- pal church was in the midst of a na- tion wide campaign of its own when the Interchurch Movement was laun- ched, this denomination has not be- come a part of the movement. Great satisfaction was expressed by leaders of the Interchurch Movement, how- ever, over the fact that the Episco-! pal church has taken occasion to ex- press its full sympathy with the aims the Interchurch has in view. Means "Success of All" "The success of one, is the success of all," said Bishop Anderson, at the Church Club yesterday afternoon. "Nothing will stimulate the Episcopal Church more than to see that other denominations are being stimulated; and I feel that the stimulating in- fluences of the Interchurch World Movement will have a highly bene- ficial effect in the ranks of all christ- ianizing and civilizing agencies. Be- cause of this, I am very glad to give the Movement my full support and to wish it every success. I have no doubt that the Episcopal Church would also have been enlisted in the Movement®but for the fact that our own campaign was well under way when it was organized." Bishop Anderson's endorsement of the Interchurch made public in New York by The Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Gailor, Presiding Bishop of the Pro- testant Episcopal Church in the United States of America, expressing hearty sympathy with the purposes of the Interchurch Movement. The text of Bishop Gailor's statement follows: "The Presiding Bishop and Council have heard with interest of the pro- gress of the Interchurch World Movement and hope that the Nation Wide campaign Committee of this church and the authorities of the various dioceses will furnish to the '| survey contemplated by the Inter- church World Movement, such infor- mation concerning the work of this church as may be desired. Inasmuch, however, as our own nation-wide campaign is still in progress, the Pre- car that will years. See Active Support The immediate result of this atti- tude of the Episcopal denomination it is believed, will be to bring large numbers of the rank and file of that church into active support of the Interchurch Movement. The evi- dence of this co-operative spirit was shown in the fact that large numbers of the episcopal clergy in the diocese of New York recently attended the Interchurch conference of pastors there at the suggestion of Rt. Rev. Charles Sumner Burch, Bishop of the Diocese. KENILWORTH MAN BUYS LARGE EVANSTON HOME Amos C. Miller Purchases Warren Home at Indicated Price of $138,000 Amos C.
