Inci- dent to this rush of enrollments comes an important announcement from Captain Frank L. Beals, U. S. A., camp commandant, to the boys of Illinois. Capacity Is Limited "It is necessary that we set a limit to the capacity of Camp Roosevelt. In these days of the high cost of living, the fee of a-dollar-a-day per cadet, together with the splendid training, out-door life, wholesome food and new experiences makes a direct appeal to the parents, and we have had many hundreds of inquiries from fathers and mothers at our Chicago headquarters, 205-212 West Washington street, Chicago. This leads me to believe that we shall reach our capacity limits very soon. I urge all Illinois boys therefore who desire to attend Camp Roosevelt this summer to send in their applications immediately. Further delay may close the door of opportunity." National Camp Camp Roosevelt is a national camp for boys from 12 to 19 years of age. The older boys receive complete Re- serve Officers' Training Corps in- struction, while the younger are ing qualities, says Mr. Foster. trained in scoutcraft by competent scout executives of the B. S. A. The boys use the regulation U. S. army tentage and. equipment and receive instruction from officers and non- commissioned officers of the regular service. The splendid spirit of democracy and forces for American- ization which characterizes the camp throughout has drawn the attention of many public men and patriotic or- ganizations. Among the notable visitors expect- ed at Camp Roosevelt this summer are Theodore Roosevelt, Jr.,, of New York and Judge Ben Lindsay of the Juvenile Court of Denver. Both of these leaders are intensely interest- ed in what is being done there. Camp opens July 4 and closes August 28. It is divided into four two-week periods. SAYS WASHING MACHINES ARE BIG ECONOMY VALUE Economy is being practiced more and more in the homes today. This fact is evidenced in the number of residents who have purchased elec- tric washing machines, according to Vance E. Foster, of the Lake Shore Electric company, 1135 Greenleaf avenue, Wilmette. - "The electric washing machine is being adopted because of its time saving, labor saving, and money sav- The electric washing machine has been a boon to the housewife and has banished the Monday blues."
