Northrop celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage at their home, 1144 North avenue, Wednesday, June 30, afternoon and evening, truly a great and interesting event in their lives. Friends numbering more than one hundred gathered at the home and from 3 o'clock in the afternoon until in the evening paid their respect to this amiable and ex- ceedingly interesting couple, who, coming to this event in their lives-- not given to many couples to enjoy-- ~ set a splendid example to the younger generations. ~~ During the evening the guests were entertained by Mrs. Dwight C. - Orcutt, who gave some delightful instrumental selections; Mrs. Ben E. Fillis, reader; Mrs. Crane, in- strumentalist; C. E. Wilcox of De- pere, Wis,, and Fred Woodcock of Chicago, who rendered several D. Hodson of Chicago, vocal soloist; the quartet of the Glencoe Methodist church, Mr. and Mrs. Watson and Mr. and Mrs. Cole. Following refreshments the guests formed on the lawn of the home where the marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. W. Leach and the Rev. Horace Smith, of . Evanston. Many beautiful gifts were received by the happy couple together with a veritable flood of letters and tele- grams. Saturday will be a Water Day, with the children meeting at Horace Mann and being conducted to and from the beach by the attendant in charge of Play Centers. NAME BEACH MASTER Victor Rohrback, well known to all the swimmers of the village and Everett Niday, a newcomer, have been appointed beach-master and in- structor in swimming, respectively, at the Winnetka beach. Bathing hours during July and August are from 10 A. M. to 9 P. M., daily. Swimming instruction Mon- day, Wednesday and Friday 10 to 12 A. M. RESURFACE LINDEN STREET Village workmen have completed the resurfacing of Linden street from Elm street to Willow street. The thoroughfare has been treated with a coat of Tarvia placing it in ex- cellent condition to withstand the wear of heavy traffic. Mr. and Mrs. H.
