E. Ashley Gerhard, rector of Christ Episcopal church, left the vil- lage Thursday of this week to pre- pare the way for the Christ church Boy Scout camp in Michigan. Twenty-four Winnetka Boy Scouts of Troop 2 will leave for the Michigan care of Rev. Myron E. Adams. The period of three weeks. Following the Scouts the Christ | church choir boys will enjoy a two | weeks' outing at the camp after which the Girl Scouts will go to the camp for a period: of two weeks. The Christ church camp is an an- nual event conducted by the parish and under direct supervision of the rector and his able assistants. Mr. Day will accompany the choir boys to the camp and the Girl Scouts will be in charge of Miss Margaret Clinch. Special Events For Golfers on Monday North Shore Golf enthusiasts of the north shore will have plenty of diversion in their chosen pastime over the week-end and on Monday, July 5, Independence ay. The North Shore Golf club at Ken- ilworth offers special events to the golfers "on Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning will witness play in the Victory Trophy event, medal play, handicap. On Monday after- noon there will be mixed foursomes and medal play contests. Visiting women will be guests of the club. Then there will be the First round of the Directors' Cup event with the pairings as follows: Lester vs. Page, Barry vs Irwin, Hastings vs Gas- coign, Braun vs. Steavens, Jordan vs. Briggs, Cornell vs. Sunderiand, Has- kell vs. Schaffee, Hurlburt vs. Marc Gould, Baker vs. Buckman, Hopkins vs. Woodward, Hulbert vs. McElroy, Stone vs. Jessup, Holden vs. Cole, Segsworth vs. Wilson, Marshall vs. Taylor, Evans vs. Owen. Indian Hill At Indian Hill club the events will open on Saturday with the July Tour- nament. There will be a dinner dance in the evening. Monday will be featured gy an all-day tournament for the men of the club. Skokie Skokie club offers the regular Saturday tournament followed by a | space on dinner dance and bridge in the evening. On Monday there will be tournaments in afternoon with a dinner dance in the evening, WORKMEN BUSY TRIMMING UP NEW ELDER LANE PARK Department of Public Works men were busy this week cutting the grass and trimming the shrubbery in the Elder Lane Park, a tract of land east of Sheridan road and bordering the lake shore, a distance of 380 feet north from the North Shore Health Resort. When the work is completed the new land, recently acquired through the instrumentality of the Winnetka Park Board, with the present park the lake front, presents practically a continuous park through the village along the lake shore.
