This program ; &¥ will be given Wednesday, November 10, at 3 o'clock, in the clubhouse. Miss Gertrude Farrell, a member of the Geranlen Trio, which will render several numbers, will sing the Norwegian Echo song. She has used this song in more than two hundred concerts when on tour and always with great success. Another interesting feature will be the singing of several Hebrew songs which are unaccompani- ed and have been handed down from generation to generation in Hebrew families. Another name added to the list of debutantes for this season is that of Miss Mary Louise von Hofsten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo O. von Hofsten, 773 Prospect avenue. She will be presented to society Christmas day at a tea. A dinner-dance will follow. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse B. Alton of 577 Cherry street, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jean, to Angus' W. Martin of Buffalo, N. Y. No date has been set for the wedding. Mrs. John W. Scott of Hubbard Woods has moved into the New Webster hotel, Lincoln Park West, for the winter. Mrs. William J. Barry of Chicago will be the speaker and Mrs. Minnie Marshall, the soloist at a program in charge of the Missions committee of the Congregational Woman's society on Wednesday, November 10, at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Barry will tell of her experiences in connection with her work among the inmates of the County jail. The meeting will be ehld at the residence of Mrs. N. Lan- don Hoyt, 435 Elm street, and all women of the community are cor- dially invited to griend Mr. and Mrs. A. Norman entertain- ed with a card party on Friday even- ing of last week at their home, 894 Sheridan road. The two special prizes were won by Miss Woodel of Hubbard Woods, and Mr. Julian of Winnetka. The regular first prize for ladies was won by Miss Emma Han- puss; second, Mrs. Thomas Scott; third, Mrs. Herbert Mitchell. First prize for the men was awarded to Mr. Jack Turner; second, Jack Arm- strong, and third, Tom Scott. There were fifty guests present. Those who are attending the lessons on "Our Government", con-- ducted by Mrs. Kennth Rich of Hull House, are discussing many points in the machinery of our government which should be but are not fully understood by many women. These lessons under a competent instructor are given every Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Win- netka Woman's clubhouse. Every woman in our village is cordially invited to these classes whether she is a member of the club or not.
