Local township, city and county com- mittees of the Near East Relief are be- ing advised to speed up their cam- paigns for grain and cash contribu- tions as a result of the message that the lives of the children inside the orphanages are imperiled in addition to the lives of those helpless children * who are in the soup lines outside the overcrowded orphanages. "Unless the Western states will rush 100 cars of grain and flour for the next steamer, hundreds of children in the orphanages are bound to die" is the message relayed from the national headquarters of the Near East Relief to the state headquarters and to the township and other local committees.
