WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1922 SKOKIE PANTING ON EXHIBIT BER Exhibit To Be Conducted By Women Sunday Afternoon Hugo von Hofsten's famous paint- ings of the Skokie are now on exhi- bition at Winnetka Community house for the benefit of the residents of the village and their friends; tomorrow afternoon, from 3 until 6 o'clock, a com- mittee from the Winnetka Woman's club in conjunction with Community House, will be at home there, and has extended a welcome to residents of the village who desire to spend a pleasant afternoon enjoying the exhibit. Winnetka probably does not ap- preciate fully, what Mr. von Hofsten has done, not only in revealing the beauties of the Skokie to the resi- dents, but in acquainting the com- munity with the remarkable advan- tages of this garden spot of nature, the Skokie Preserve. No one can view these beautiful canvases, depicting the wonderfully "varied aspects of these wide skies and * far horizons with their soft and often brilliant colorings, without recogniz- ing the great loss that would ensue should the Skokie become only a mem- ory. The Skokie Preservation so- ciety has purchased two paintings which have been exhibited in the Cook County building, and they are to be presented to the Cook County commissioners. These pictures have beer on exhibition in the New York National Academy and in the Royal Academy of Sweden. They will be in the collection shown at Community House.
