SS 00T-000RS SUNDAY CLUB TOPE Frank Branch Riley, "Evangel | of Northwest" to Give Lec- ture Sunday Evening HAS STIRRING MESSAGE Arthur Jones, London Opera Star, to Augment Program Frank Branch Riley, prominent at- torney of Portland, Oregon, and well known traveler, author and lecturer, will appear before the Wilmette Sun- day Evening club, February 19. His subject will be '"God's Out-Doors." Mr. Riley has spoken many times be- fore the most important organizations of this country, including the Union CE League club and the Association of Commerce of Chicago. His address day evening will be illustrated with beautiful photographs made into attractive colored lantern slides. The "ews will be displayed by an expert operator. "'vangel of Northwest" Frank Sevanch Riley is popularly known as "The Evangel of the North- west." Of him the Plymouth Insti- tute of Brooklyn, New York, says, "Riley has more magnetism, more fire, more fun and: more genuine affection for his subject material than any lec- turer we have ever heard in New York." "It (the lecture) almost made the tears come to your eyes at the grand- eur of it all. I never heard anything like it, nor saw anything to equal the pictures," is another comment. Opera Star to Sing The special musical program, in addition to Mrs. Van Ritter's excellent organ numbers, will be provided by Arthur Jones, recently of Daly's Opera company of London. He will sing "Lead, Kindly Light," by D. Pugh Evans, and 'The Children's Hour," by Dr. Frederick Cowen. Martini Postlude: 'MANY HOME MUSICALS DURING WEEK OF SONG National Week of Song will be ob- served in many Winnetka homes next week, including several programs of exceptional interest and worth. Listed the following: Mrs. John W. Hansel Jr. will enter- tain with a musicale at her home, 382 Ridge avenue. The program will be given by Mr. Norman Parker, violin- ist; and J. W. Macy, baritone. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Buhrer, 398 Elder lane, will entertain with music in their home Sunday, February 19. Those taking part are, Mrs. W. A. Thrall, Mr. and Mrs. Al Thorne, and Mr. -Buhrer. Mrs. Burton H. Atwood will sing an aria by Puccini, and Syrian and Span- ish songs at the meeting of the Oak street Circle in Community House, February 21. A special program of music will be given in New Trier High school audi- torium by pupils of the North Shore Country Day school and the Winnetka Public schools Tuesday, February 21, at 2:30 o'clock. Residents on Ash street will observe the National Week of Song with an evening of music at the home of Judge and Mrs. Charles H. Thomsom, 576 Ash street. The artist of the occas- ion will be Mrs. Albert Pick, Jr. The program is arranged by Mrs. Guy Stuart Bailey and Mrs. Percival Hunt- er. Mrs. George Fraser, 639 Lincoln ave- nue, will entertain informally with music Monday, February 20.
