The discussion was thought by many to have been the most interest- ing since the inception of the class several months ago. Celarly, the members of ihe c¢lass appreciated fully that too rigid in- sistence on religious influence during youth has permanently antagonized many men toward religion and the church. On the other hand a child left to itself, it was argued, is in great danger of growing up a pagan and It seemed to be agreed posed on the child it should be "ex- posed to and sold" on the very best ones carefully selected. ; Need Force of Example ~ Most important of all was consid- ered the force of example. This was picturesquely illustrated and pointed to the necessity of the father's at- tending church and setting an ex- "Get-Rich-Quick" Film Next Community Picture How a sleepy little town, without ambition, smugly satisfied with its own conservative traditions, can be transformed into a thriving, hustling and properous small city is amusingly set forth in "Get-Rich-Quick Walling- ford," a Cosmopolitan production for Paramount directed by Frank Borzage, which will be shown at the Community House April 28. The picture details the adventures of those master confidence men, J. Rufus Wallingford and G. Horace Daw who descend upon Battlesburg, a Mid- dle Western town, to fleece its citizens by means of hair-brained Schemes. They find the town ultra-conservative but gradually the magnificient suavity of the crooks wins over the citizens and they "invest" generously. Wal- lingford and Daw, of course, have no intention of carrying out their so- called manufacturing projects, but their industry starts a real live boom and Battlesburg makes tremendous progress. : shown them in their recent bereavement. Continue Discussion On Church Membership In response to numerous requests Rev. James Austin Richards has ar- ranged a second open conference on Church Membership to be held in the Winnetka Congregational Church li- brary tomorrow at 3:30 o'clock. At that time Mr. Richards will en- deavor to explain just what member- ship in that church means, and -all persons who have been thinking about becoming members, whether by con- fession of faith, or by re-affirmation of faith, or by letters from other churches, will be most welcome at this informal gathering. CARD OF THANKS Mrs. Eric Nelson and family wish to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude for the many kindnesses and sympathy T6-1tc WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 1922 St ---------- eee oe Tae ai Sarre ra For-- Shrubbery Gardens Lawns Fruit Flowers Hardwood Ashes Pulverized Sheep Manure Pulverized Limestone Specially Prepared Materials COAL ICE Consumers Company FEED District Office 1015 Church Street FERTILIZERS EVANSTON, ILLINOIS LAWN SEEDS Evanston TELEPHONES BUILDING MATERIAL Wilmette 4500 Glencoe 75 1300 Rogers Park 3800 Keep our City Beautiful - Use our Fertilizer on your Lawns and Gardens. Naturally enough this men of the class would commit them- selves to church attendance during the summer. The response to the sug- gestion was surprisingly earnest and inclusive. Riches and Religion Next Sunday the class continues the study of a Judean King whose re- ligious life was thwarted by pros- perity. It will doubtless introduce a discussion of whether: religion and material success are mutually com- patible and if not how they are to be reconciled. The class meets each Sunday at 9:45 o'clock in the Community House gymnasium. RECALLS WAR DAYS Many villagers need must rub their eyes Thursday morning when they be- held what appeared to be a wartime scene, what with hundreds of khaki- clad men passing through town. The men marched from Fort Sheri- dan to Chicago and the scene was not unlike the incidents of some five years ago. DURANT "Just Ta Real Good Car" $890 F.0.B.
