rm ------------ STIRFICE FOC OES A POCA Incidentally Carriers Hand Lacing to Clerks Postmaster Elmer E. Adams round- ed up the clerks, carriers and special delivery boys and their families Sun- day for a basket picnic at River Side park in the Forest Preserve. The feature of the first annual post- office outing was a ball game in which the clerks lined up against the sturdy carriers. Volt, hurler for the clerks, recognizing the fact that the carriers were good walkers, did not deny them the privilege of asserting their prow- ess in that regard, with the result that the street men walked in with a 3 to 1 victory. Adams Plays First Dehmlow hurled effectively for the carriers, granting the clerks not a peek-in. Postmaster Adams held down first base for the clerks. The line-up was as follows: Clerks: R. Runn- feldt, 1f.; J. Uttenreuther, cf.; J. Car- penter, 3b; R. Thorsen, rf; H. Voltz, D-; J. Schinler, c¢.; Joe. Braun, 2b: George Walkey, ss; E. E. Adams, 1b. Carriers: E. Siegle, 3b; L. Schaefer, ¢; G. Margui, 2b; P. Deily, 1b; M. Thorsen, rf; IL. Knackstadt, If; E. Lips, cf; A. Wylie, ss; C. Dehmlow, Dp. Umpires, Olsen and Ellis. Despite the fact that one of the um- pires was a brother-in-law of one of the clerks, and the other a nephew of the postmaster, the clerks failed to get the breaks of the game. Honor Guests Guests at the outing were Mr. and Mrs. R. Essery and Mr. and Mrs. Foster of Melrose Park. Mr. Foster is foreman in the mailing division of the Chicago postoffice. Dr. Everett left Saturday for Wau- kazoo where he will spend the summer. WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JULY 1, 1922 Wedding Bells Chime Even in The Busy Mart The bells you heard early this week in the vicinity of Magistrate C. T. Northrop's offices at 556 Center street, were the chimings attendant upon the annual procession of June brides and their timid escorts. Monday was an exceptional day for "Judge" Northrop. At daybreak the .caretaker at the offices was giving the place just a bit more attention than usual, and by early afternoon one noted that something unusual was to take place. It did. They were Fred Newton and Rose Cejna of Chicago; and Robert L. Pioso and Roslyn Davodson, also of Chi- cago. Happy Days!
