La Navarraise Tonight Ravinia is to have a repertoire of thirty-three operas this season, accord- ing to Louis Eckstein, who is enter- ing upon his second decade as Ravin- ia's entrepreneur. Among the operas are: "Lucia di Lammermoor," "Rigo- letto," "La Traviata," and "Carmen." "Lakme," which proved so successful in 1919, is to be revived this year. The new additions. to the Ravinia re- pertoire will be of varied character. Verdi's "Otello," Mascagni's "L'Amico Fritz," and Leroux's "Le Chemineau." The opera to be presented this eve- ning is "La Navarraise" and '"Caval- leria." On Sunday evening, the fam- ous popular opera "Lucia" will be given. The box holders at Ravinia for the season 1922 are as follows: Messrs. and Mesdames Charles T. Boynton, Bernard A. Eckhart, Louis Eckstein, James A. Patten, L. Koretz, Charles A. Stonehill. Mesdames J. McGregor Adams, George R. Thorne, Rockefeller McCor- mick. --_---- Mrs. John Orson Barber, 211 Church road, gave a large al fresco luncheon, Wednesday, on the lawn of her place, "Rest Awhile", to members of the Chicago chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Later, the party in automobiles, were charmed hy the beauties of Win- netka's environments. They also were shown the parkways, on Sheridan Road, where twenty-five memorial trees will be planted in the fall, under the supervision of Village Forester Lynch. Four of these trees will bear markers commemorating the deaths of Lieut. Elliot Durand, Jr., and his brother, Lieut. fugene Durand, Lieut. George T. Houston and Lieut. Roswell H. Fuller, sons of members. The space for these trees, was granted by the Village Council, to the Chicago chapter through Mrs. Barber, as chairman of the committee on his- torical monuments, relics and places. == A pretty little home wedding took place Wednesday evening, June 21, when Miss Martha Guelzow became the bride of Mr. Henry Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Shroeder of 346 Park avenue, Glencoe, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Papa, 902 Lin- den avenue, Hubbard Woods, the bride's brother-in-law and sister. Rev. William Suhr of the Lutheran church performed the ceremony. The bride's dress was of champagne georgette and she carried white peonies. A wreath of silver leaves and rosebuds formed the head ornament. The bride's only attendent was Miss Margaret Siegle, who, as maid of hon- or, wore a frock of old rose canton crepe and carried pink roses. Miss Copeland gave a tea in honor of her guest on Thurs- day afternoon, and on Monday eve- ning Mrs. William Hale and Miss Copeland will give a dinner party at the Hale home, preceding the Scott dancing party at Indian Hill club. C--O) : The Oak Street and East Willow Street Circles entertained fifty chil- dren from the Protestant Orphan Children's Home, Sixty-third and Yale streets, Chicago, at Lake Front Park, on Wednesday. On Thursday forty children and their mothers of the Chicago Commons were the guests of members of the Foxdale Avenue Cir- cle on the Winnetka beach. ee Oe Miss Virginia Buchanan is taking a group of friends up to her father's cottage at State Line, Wis.,, for a few days' outing. In the party there will be Mr. and Mrs. Paul Soule, Mr. and Mrs. G. Ross Stewart and Miss Roberta Skinner of Wilmette; Mr. Thornton Adams of Chicago, and Mr. Stuyvesant Hinman of Winnetka. --_-- Mrs. C. W. Washburne and children, 467 Chestnut street, have gone to Glenn, Mich., for the summer. Mr. Washburne, who has been made asSoO- ciate professor in the School of Edu- cation at Northwestern university, will occupy a position on the faculty during the summer school session. ------ The marriage of Miss Pauline Nel- son of Hubbard Woods, to Rev. B. W. Clover, former pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Winnetka, took place last evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson, 1015 Oak street. Rev Paul T. Seashore officiated. --- -0-- Mrs. S. Edwin Earle of 922 North avenue has left for a six weeks' so- journ at the New Ocean House, Swampscott, Mass. She is accom- panied by her daughter, Elsie, and her mother, Mrs. George W. Chatter- tor, of Springfield, Ill. --- Miss Lidmilla Smith, 802 Oak street, left for Montreal, Wednesday, and will sail from there on the S. S. Can- ada, for Liverpool. Miss Smith will visit in London, Paris, Switzerland, and while in Germany, will attend the Passion Play, Oberammergau, return- ing home early in September. --_---- Mrs. Carl Bergmann and daugh- ter, Miss Elsie Bergmann, of New York city, who are at the Blackstone, visited friends in Winnetka this week. They are leaving Saturday to take the boat trip to Buffalo. --O-- Mr. and Mrs. John W. Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Scott of Hub- bard Woods will entertain at a danc- ing party at the Indian Hill club on Monday evening next, in honor of their daughters, the Misses Betty and ( Barbara, and Emily and Isabel Scott. --_-0 Miss Pauline Nelson and her fiance, Rev. W. B. Clover, were guests of honor at a surprise shower given Tuesday evening by some seventy- five friends at the Winnetka Wo- man's club. They were presented with a handsome set of dishes. Mrs. N. H. Blatchford, Jr., is spend- ing the summer with her three chil- dren, at Woodstock, in the Catskill mountains. Mr. Blatchford will join his family in July. ek Mr. and Mrs. Buckingham Chandler and Mrs. Hermon B. Royal Arcanum News Among Community House summer activities, through oversight notice of Royal Arcanum meetings was omit- ted. Such being the case it is here with emphasized that Winnetka Coun- cil 1131, of the Royal Arcanum will meet every first and third Monday of the month, throughout the calendar year. More than that the council hopes to conduct a peppy meeting every meeting night. So, brothers, don't forget out next meeting is next Monday night at the Community House at 8 o'clock. June 19, the many members and visitors who attended enjoyed an in- on "the Science of Short Arithmetic" which kept quite a few guessing. Music, games and refreshments, fol- lowed and an enjoyable evening was had by all present. It may be of interest to horseshoe enthusiasts that Bro. Radner holds the championship of the council and challenges all comers for this title.
