Brown of Scarsdale, N. Y,, formerly of Evanston, to Lloyd, better known as "Gog" Ellingwood of Evanston. The announcement marks the culmination of a romance of Evanston high school days, when the young people were members of the same class. They entered Northwest- ern university in the class of 1918, Miss Brown becoming a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and Mr. Ellingwood of the Sigma Alpha Epsil- on fraternity. Mr. Ellingwood won fame as a half back on the varsity team, and was an ensign in the United States navy during the war. ---- Invitations have been issued for the marriage of Miss Catherine Smurr, daughter of Mrs. Maude V. Smurr, to J. Milo Dickman of Fayette, Ia., which will take place at the home of the bride's mother, 920 Main street, Evanston, Saturday evening, Septem- ber 2, at eight o'clock. Miss Marga- ret Smurr will be her sister's only attendant, and Basil Brown of Chi- cago will be best man. Mr, Dickman and his bride will probably make their home in Newark, N. J. The Smurr family were former residents of Wil- mette. yd The Lake Shore Country club in Glencoe, opened its gates to the public on the occasion of the North Shore Garden club's annual flower show, on Tuesday afternoon and evening of this week. Admission tickets include ed entrance into the gardens of Louis B. Kuppenheimer in Hubbard Woods, Jonas Kuppenheimer in Lake Forest, Moses Born, Charles Stonehill, Sam- uel Marx, all of Glencoe, and Julius Rosenwald and George Pick of Ra- vinia.
