Interested in giving a competent answer to this important question, The Lake Shore News called upon a New Trier High school faculty mem- ber, receiving the accompanying reply. 70 Percent Enter College "When parents learn of the large percent of New Trier graduates who enroll in the colleges and universities, they are convinced that some special stress must have been placed on the work to fit them for these institutions of advanced learning. Last fall 70 per- cent, and this fall 63 percent of the senior class entered college. "This year special classes in Latin, English, French, Physics, Mathematics and American History and Civics are being conducted for those students who expect to take the college board examinations in June. During the past three years at least 90 per cent of those who took these entrance ex- aminations passed and were admitted into the college of their choice. This is a much higher percentage than the average for the entire United States. they have done in their freshman year at college." OL DOBBINLESES EFLSE WAGON J Village Secures' Motorized Waste Disposal System Arrangements have been made whereby a change will be made from the present horse drawn vehicles now used in the removal of ashes and gar- bage from the village, to an up-to- date motor service. This change was found advisable since it would soon be necessary to materially increase the equipment now in use. The cost of maintaining the new motor service will not exceed that of the old method, it is said, and may be less. 'Twenty- five per cent more customers can be served by the motor truck, service than by horse and wagon. Have Efficient Service Four two and one-half ton trucks, with a capacity of three cubic vards, are to be used; three for garbage and one for ashes. These four trucks will collect the ashes and garbage in the village, and a fifth and larger truck will be used between the village and the dumping grounds. Two men are to accompany each truck. Both trucks and men are to be fur- nished by a contractor. In this man- ner the Village will not have to pur- chase any equipment except shovels have received special recognition for |carts now in use will not be sold but the high school character of the work | will be used in other departments, where they are needed. This plan will eventually eliminate about six horses. The contract is to be givén to Bied- erer Brothers of Glenview, who have been in this business for some time. Mr. Woolhiser has been authorized to sign the contract at once. The refuse, it is understood, is to be hauled to the vicinity of Glenview, where most of it is to be used as fer- tilizer.
