Harrison Mettler's home, 1109 Sheridan road, fur- nished an attractive back- ground for a charming one-act play, "The May Queen," by Lucille Forbes Milton, which was presented by the 'Community Drama club. The scene was laid in a grove of trees on a hill- side in old England, at least one's thoughts traveled to England, for the quaint costumes, simple folk songs and dances readily led one back to a real May Day festival in the eight- eenth century. Those whose homes will be opened are Mrs. Hathaway Watson, Mrs. Ralph Hobart, Mrs. Hermon B. But- ler, Mrs. James L. Houghteling, and one other, either that of Mrs. H. A. deWindt or Mrs. W. B. McIlvaine. Prizes for this mammoth affair, an- other section of which will be held in Evanston on the same day, have been donated by many friends of Grove House and the following merchants, G. L. The students will be studying Macbeth a little later in the season. Mr. Taylor was a captain in the 94th Aero squadron and flew over the German lines in a single seater for eight months.
