WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1922 : THENTER UI TPE NTH OER BITS North Shore Organization Plans Brilliant Season The North Shore Theater Guild, which so successfully presented a number of plays on the north shore last year, will open its second season with Barrie's "Dear Brutus" to be presented early in November, accord- ing to announcements this week. The cast is now open for new talent, both amateur and professional, it is under- stood. The play was secured from Charles Frohman, Inc. with difficulty, and at a considerable expense. It is to be played along the north shore, and the cast will include several well-known Evanston people, among them Mrs. Ralph Heilman, Miss Margaret Fabian, E. Lyman, Jr., and Dr. Oliver Farns- worth. Others in the cast will be resi- dent amateurs from Lake Forest, Glen- coe, Winnetka, Kenilworth, and Wil- mette. The play is being produced by Raymond O'Neil who was formerly the director of the Little Theater of Cleveland. One Standard Revival Beginning this season the guild will give one revival of a standard play, the remaining three productions to be of plays new to Chicago and vicinity. According to announcements, the guild is also eager to secure plays of native authorship, and invites local writers to submit manuscripts for considera- tion. Four plays of a wide variety of ap- peal were presented by the guild dur- | ing its initial season last year. Three of the four plays were given in virtu ally all of the North Shore towns, the last one, Percy MacKaye"s "Jeanne D' Arc" being performed inl Evanston only. The music, lighting, costuming, stage settings, acting and the produc- tion which were made in conjunction with the Drama League of Chicago, helped to make the plays successful. The other plays of last year were Edna Ferber's "Twelve Hundred a Year." Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion" and St. John Ervines great play, "Mix- ed Marriage." With the exception of "Jeanne D' Arc" which was presented in the Northeast gymnasium all of the Evanston performances were given in the Evanston Country club. A season membership provides two tickets to each of the four plays and to such receptions as are given from time to time to visiting professionals, lecturers, and others. The last play of the year is produced for the benefit of members exclusively. The other three productions are open to the pub- lic.
