xe WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1922 13 PHOTO DRAMAS [PHO HOYBURN THEATRE National Book Week, November 13-18, has received complete endorse- ment by the Hoyburn theatre, Davis street, Evanston, and Manager Sturdivant, announces a program for next week that indicates with what thoroughness Evanston's movie home will help in the matter of further- ance of interest in good literature. Book Week starts off at the Hoy- burn with the showing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of "The Headless Horseman," adapted from Washington Irving's great classic, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The incomparable Will Rogers is in the leading role in this screen mas- terpiece. Buster Keaton will add zest to the program on those three days in his latest, entitled "The Blacksmith." Thursday, November 16, finds more Book Week material at the Hoyburn in the presentation of "Silas Marner," George Eliot's immortal contribution to world literature. Crauford Kent portrays the charac- ter of Silas Marner. "The Little Minister," by James M. Barrie, whether in book, spoken or silent drama, is a work that will be read, enacted and observed through the centuries. Everyone knows that Betty Compson plays in "The Little Minister" for the motion picture patrons, and every showing of the (remarkable screen production brings out throngs of lovers of the better drama depicted in the films. "The Little Minister" is the attraction at the Hoyburn on Friday, November 17. Saturday's program at the Hoy- burn includes the film, "The Man She Brought Back," with Earl Fox; also another episode of that exhilarat- ing serial, "Days of Buffalo Bill." HOWARD THEATRE Those of us who have glanced over the compiled list of the greatest mo- tion picture productions of the last month or two, cannot help but draw favorable comparisons with the pro- grams at the Howard. Patronized by the best type of mo- tion picture followers, the Howard management selects its programs accordingly, with the result that it doesn't require a holiday to bring the best of the latest productions to the lower north shore palace. "In the Name of the Law" will be seen at the Howard, Sunday, Mon- day, and Tuesday of next week. Priscilla Dean features the pro- gram on Wednesday and Thursday with her latest spectacular success "Under Two Flags." "The Bond Boy," with Richard Barthelmess in the leading role, will bring throngs of motion picture en- thusiasts to the Howard on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18. "Without compromise," is billed for Sunday, November 19, and "Burn- ing Sands" finishes the following week's program. Coming to the Howard in the very near future is the great photodrama, "The Prisoner of Zenda." Then there is always the music at the Howard. James Thatcher directs the Howard Orchestra Supreme. Anita Sadler and Betty Gish are the organists. N. U. Home-Coming Day to Be Big Event for Alumni North Shore alumni and students of Northwestern university are an- ticipating a gala time this Saturday upon the occasion of annual Home- coming Day on the Evanston Campus. The feature attraction of the day, of course, will be the Purple-Purdue football game at 2:30 o'clock.
