The jun- ior group, consisting largely of fresh- men - and sophomores, was led by Katherine Hamilton and Kathrine Granquist. A quartet composed of Katherine Hamilton, Geo. Swigart, Olga Reinhold, and Estelle Swigart rendered two movements from a Haydn Sonata--The Scherzo and Fi nale. most applause was the Andante from Tschaikowsky, 5th symphony. Few high school orchestras aspire to sym- phonic music. This particular one with its cross rhythms and difficult measures for strings, brass, and reeds meant a real achievement for our students. Mr. Sievert, a visitor from Boston, who has been inspecting the musical departments of leading high schools in America, complimented Mrs. Cot- ton upon having such a splendid or- chestra.
