Moody and William Ayer Mc- Kinney will be the speakers at the Men's Sunday Morning class of the Congregational church on January 20. The theme of discussion will be "The Northfield Schools Founded by Dwight L.. Moody." The Men's class is discussing in a series of special talks, the general theme of "Religious Hobbies." All men of the village are invited to attend this class which meets in Com- munity House at 9:30 every Sunday morning. Village Will Appeal : Rosewood Terr. Case The Winnetka Village council Tues- day of this week voted to appeal the Rosewood Terrace Subdivision case and instructed special counsel John R. Montgomery to take the necessary steps in such action. Owners of the Rosewood Terrace property in the Skokie recently were victorious in the courts in a manda- mus suit to compel the Village to ap- prove a plat of subdivision of the ter- ritory. Youthful Thief Gets $2 in Hold-up Here Winnetka police are looking for a boy about 17 years of age and five feet tall who, on Tuesday evening of this week, accosted Miss Bernice Pax- ton, 576 Hawthorn lane, with a gun and demanded the contents of her purse--$2 in all. The hold-up occurred at about 6:45 o'clock at Church road between Wil- low and Diller streets. After appropriating Miss Paxton's contribution of $2 the youthful robber ordered his victim to "walk straight and don't turn around." The principal items of identification noted by Miss Paxton were a dark colored mackinaw and a gray cap. She said the youthful robber appeared to be about five feet in height. 285 New Members Added to Voters' League Roll During the recent membership drive the Winnetka League of Woman Voters has been carrying on since last November, under the general chairmanship of Mrs. Frank Craw- ford, 285 new members have been added to the membership list, making a grand total of 822 members. The village has been systematically and thoroughly canvassed by the Membership committee, which is divided into district captains and sub- captains who have been most faith- ful in their work for this cause. "Modern Uzzahs" to Be Sunday Sermon Message At the Winnetka Congregational church Sunday morning at the 11 o'clock service Rev. James Austin Richards will use as his sermon topic, "Modern Uzzahs." Holds Annual Meeting Monday Night The annual meeting of the New Trier Commercial association will be held Monday evening, January 21, in the association offices in the Brown building. Winnetka Youth May . Attend West Point Daniel Kohlsaat, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Kohlsaat of 341 Woodland ave- nue, was awarded second place in pre- liminary examinations for appointment to the West Point Military academy, according to word received by Mr. Kohl- saat this week from Panama where his son is stationed with the United States army. . Young Kohlsaat, who is attached to Company E, 11th Engineers U. a stationed at Corozal, Panama, ranked second in a large class of aspirants for West Point nomination. Kohlsaat is a graduate of New Trier High school and studied at I.ewis Insti- tute and Beloit. SPEAKS ON AMERICANISM R. W. Evans is announced as the speaker at an open meeting in Odd Fellows Hall, Wilmette, Monday eve- ning, January 21, when the topic will be "100 Per Cent Americanism." Coast Dramatist Visits With Sister in Village Miss Douglass Whitehead, supervisor of dramatics in the Horace Mann school, is having as her guest this week her sister, Miss Virginia Whitehead, of San Francisco, who is a teacher in Dr. Burke's Normal school of that city. Miss Whitehead came to Chicago as a member of the cast of the Little Theatre Players of San Francisco, who have been giving performances of "The Commuters" in various cities enroute from the coast. J. H. Schneible, Former Resident, Dies in West Joseph H. Schneible, formerly of 254 Scott avenue, who recently went to California because of failing health, passed away at Los Angeles on Thurs- day, January 10. He is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters. The Scheible home was sold re- cently when the family moved to California. They have been residents of Winnetka for several years. NOKOL OPENS OFFICES The Chicago Nokol company has opened a north shore branch and sales place at 746 Elm street, Winnetka. G. C. Baker is manager in charge of the north shore branch. INSTALL SWITCHBOARD A cordless switchboard is being in- stalled in the Village hall. The "board" will contain three trunk lines with' seven terminals. It will be in operation within a few weeks.
