WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 1924 LOCAL PEOPLE AID BIG DRIVE Assume Active Interest in Seminary Fund Campaign Members of the Winnetka Congre- gational church participated in the dinner and meeting at the Hotel La Salle Friday, February 15, which formally launched the campaign of the Chicago Theological seminary for one million dollars. John R. Montgomery of Hubbard Woods, a member of the Winnetka church, who is campaign chairman for the entire city presided. The Win- netka representatives with those from other north shore communities made an impressive delegation when each section was called to stand. $200,000 Is Subscribed Mr. Montgomery announced that $207,136 of the fund had been sub- scribed. Among the gifts making up that sum was $3,000 from the semin- ary students, all of whom are self- supporting. Ninety-five per cent of them contributed to this gift. As the seminary is the only one in the United States under the direct control of the Congregational church, the members of that denomination in Winnetka and elsewhere are taking an active interest in the movement to pro- vide additional buildings and endow- ig The campaign will close March 4.
