They plan at that time to light the first fire in the fireplace with appropri- ate and beautiful exercises, each girl taking some part. Through the generous interest of friends; the Camp Fire room is to be made especially beautiful and appropri- ate in its furnishings, a fitting setting for the interesting fireplace, and an in- spiration to the continued growth and strengthening of the Camp Fire in Winnetka. Harvard Team Loses to Country Day Cage Crew The North Shore Country Day school victory over Harvard, Ill, in a basket ball game Tuesday at Harvard was a mile-stone in the season; for Harvard out of twelve games has lost so far only two, those two being lost to North Shore. It was an exciting game. Shore scored first and at the end of the quarter was leading 6-2, at the end of the half was tied 9-9. When the third quar- ter started Harvard quickly made two baskets but this was the last time Har- vard scored while North Shore gradual- ly crept up to the final fifteen points, seven of which were made on {free throws. James Austin Richards, pastor of the Winnetka Congregational church addressed the Interstate Merchants Council in the Grand Ballroom, Hotel LaSalle, Chicago, recently on the sub- ject, "Planning for Peace." The meeting was the fifth convention of merchants from all sections of the United States held under the auspices of The Chicago Association of Com- merce. Fight hundred retailers jumped to their feet in a burst of applause, giv- ing Mr. Richards the greatest ovation of the two-day convention. The Interstate Merchants' council has a membership of more than 2,000 re- tail stores throughout the United States and Canada. Country Day Students Hear Negro Melodies North Shore Country Day school had the pleasure of hearing James Fentress, well known Winnetkan, sing several of the old negro spirituals on Tuesday morning in the gymnasium. Mr. Fentress spoke of the religious attitude of the Southern negro and the point of view represented in these songs; and in a voice rich and sweet, and with what seemed a perfect interpretation of the negro way of singing with guitar in hand, sang song after song to a de- lighted and charmed audience.
